As Emily would say, “In Paris, you can never be overdressed or overeducated.” But what about in Rome? Season 5 is about to find out! Trade in your French macarons for some Italian cannolis because the new season’s release date is December 18th, 2025, on Netflix, and we’re heading to Rome again! 🛵

And yes, it’s been confirmed that Lucas Bravo will be returning in Season 5 as Gabriel, the French chef. Whether you are team Gabriel, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) or Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), this très compliqué love square spanning Paris and Rome will continue into the next season! Other key cast members confirmed for Season 5 include Emily, played by Lily Collins, Mindy, played by Ashley Park, Princess Jane, played by Minnie Driver and Luc, played by Bruno Gouery.

1. Rome, Italy

Rumour has it that Emily returns to Rome in the fifth season! You know what that means… It’s très likely that we may see another iconic Vespa scene in the romantic Eternal City. Agence Grateau is Sylvie’s new firm that Emily now works at, and of course, there is an office in Rome. Cue the curtain for Emily in Rome! 🇮🇹

Our predictions for Rome filming spots:

• The Roman Forum and The Colosseum: We know that the Colosseum was a Season 4 filming location, and we suspect that Emily will be back to explore more of the surrounding area in the Roman Forum. We suspect Emily will find inspiration among the ancient ruins – perhaps scouting a location for a luxury brand campaign? After all, she did transform champagne marketing with a single Instagram post. The ruins are an iconic backdrop and have unique shadows in certain hours of the day when the sun is lower in the sky, making it a popular location for filming!
• Trevi Fountain: The Trevi Fountain scene was burned into our brains from Emily in Paris Season 4, and we think that she will be returning to make another wish in Season 5! We’re hoping for another show-stopping outfit moment – remember her pink tulle Molly Goddard dress at the ballet? Emily knows how to make a fountain her runway. The only question is what iconic outfit will she wear this time?
• Trastevere Neighbourhood: This trendy neighbourhood is also popular among foodies, which is why we think Emily will make a guest appearance in one of the many quaint restaurants and cafes. 🍝 With Gabriel’s culinary expertise rubbing off on her, we wouldn’t be surprised if Emily discovers Rome’s food scene in this charming neighbourhood, maybe even inspiring a social media campaign for Marcello’s family business? It’s a hidden gem that we hope is featured in Season 5!

2. Venice, Italy

We are so excited about the prospect of a short stint in Venice in the 5th season! It’s such a classic backdrop in the history of film. Any city where both Indiana Jones and James Bond have made guest appearances seems fit for Emily Cooper. 💁🏻‍♀

Our predictions for Venice filming spots:

• Piazza San Marco: Every storyline set in Venice should include at least one scene at the famous Piazza San Marco. This feels like the perfect setting for a Mindy Chen performance scene – imagine her singing against that stunning backdrop! The iconic architecture and wide open space make it the perfect location for an epic love scene or even just a casual walk and talk.
• Rialto Bridge: This unique bridge is such an iconic location in Venice, and given the love square drama, we’re betting on a pivotal conversation here – maybe where Emily finally makes a choice between Gabriel and Marcello? If she doesn’t go over the Rialto Bridge, it will be at least one bridge scene! Honourable mention goes to the Bridge of Sighs, which is rumoured to bring eternal love to lovers kissing underneath. The Bridge of Sighs legend feels very on-brand for this show’s romantic chaos. 👀
• Gondola Ride through the Venetian Lagoon: We HAVE to see Emily Cooper in a gondola in Venice. Picture Emily in a gondola, wind in her hair, debating between her French roots and Italian future. The outfit? Probably something that breaks every ‘what to wear in Venice’ rule – and makes it work. Very Emily. The outfit possibilities on board a boat are simply endless, and we know Lily Collins is going to make it look so effortlessly chic.

3. Paris, France

We have been tracking Emily in Paris filming locations since Season 1, and one spot has always stayed constant – Emily’s office! Even though her first company, Savoir, suspended their operations in France, Sylvie’s new firm is in the same building, so we predict more scenes at the Place de Valois building in the 1st Arrondissement. As Emily famously declared, “I’m not here to blend into the tapestry of Paris—I’m here to weave my own vibrant thread.” Even with her Roman adventure, we predict that her fond Parisian memories will call her back to the City of Lights, starting with these familiar and new spots… 🗺️

Our predictions for Paris filming spots:

• Montmartre and Sacré-Coeur: This neighbourhood is one of our favourites, and we are predicting that Emily will be making her way back here in the 5th season. Remember Emily’s first photoshoot with Antoine? Montmartre’s artistic vibe has always been her playground. We’re predicting a return here, maybe with Mindy for a best friend catch-up scene. It’s popular among artists and food-lovers alike, and there are new aesthetic backdrops and pastel coloured buildings around every turn. Très chic!
• River Seine: We’re thinking there is going to be a mirrored love scene along the Seine just like The Summer I Turned Pretty. The Seine has been witness to so many Emily moments – from her first croissant to awkward run-ins with exes. A romantic evening stroll feels like the perfect bookend to all that chaos. There is something positively dreamy about walking along the river in the evening with your love. The Eiffel Tower seems to glimmer just for you two. ✨
• Le Marais: We also predict that Emily may move into a new neighbourhood in Season 5 when she gets back to Paris after living in Rome. We predict that she will move from the Latin Quarter (Place de l’Estrapade) to Le Marais because it’s a very fashionable, art-centric neighbourhood that we think suits Emily’s personality perfectly! Le Marais would be the perfect fresh start for Emily – trendy enough for her Instagram feed, artistic enough for her creative soul, and far enough from her old apartment to avoid running into Gabriel every morning.
