Headed to the Venice of the North? Amsterdam is known for its picturesque canals and homes, so hop on a bicycle and meander to our favourite spots for taking photos in Amsterdam. Take in the view, snap a few Instagram pics, or hire a talented Amsterdam Flytographer to capture your visit!
Jordaan is the place to be for wandering down narrow lanes and taking in the city’s best window shopping. Explore the area’s many cafés, art galleries, and shops. Stop by the Noordermarkt flea market to have a look at the interesting antiques for sale. On Saturdays, an organic farmers’ market pops up in the same spot!
Built on its own series of islands, Centraal Station is Amsterdam’s main transportation hub and an elegant architectural symbol of the city. This is the perfect spot to get your bearings, take in those famous views, and to see some of the Amsterdam’s iconic canals before heading out to explore some of the city’s hidden gems.
Amsterdam’s largest city park is perfect for people watching and with its many sculptures, a good place to head with camera in hand. Be sure to see Pablo Picasso’s work “Fish” before wandering the grounds and getting lost in the rose garden. Enjoy a post-photo walk refreshment at De Vondel Tuin, a charming open-air café at the southwest end of the park.
De Negen Straatjes
De Negen Straatjes, which translates to “the nine streets,” is a group of nine picture-perfect shopping streets in Amsterdam’s canal belt ideal for browsing quirky shops, admiring architecture, finding a hidden spot for lunch, and, of course, one of the best photo spots in Amsterdam.
Once a working-class neighbourhood, but now trendy and fabulous, De Pijp is famous for its narrow bohemian streets and bustling Amsterdam charm. If you’re on the prowl for Amsterdam’s finest street food, this is a good place to start — the famous Albert Cuyp Markt is here, filled with street vendors hawking Dutch specialties.
Magere Bridge, one of the best spots for photos in Amsterdam, is a classic for a reason — the old-school charm of this wooden drawbridge is impossible to resist. Cross the Amstel River on foot or by bike — the bridge has been closed to auto traffic since 2003 — over the famous Old Dutch “Skinny Bridge.” Then, come back to the bridge at night to see it illuminated by a multitude of sparkling lights!
