Meet Aly in Kona

I’m a light-hearted and outdoorsy gal with a passion for storytelling. My style is light, bright, artsy, creative, and whimsical! I capture natural moments all while having fun and showing you why I’ve fallen in love with this island and its beauty. I’ve worked, lived, or traveled in countries on every continent except Antarctica, including New Zealand, Australia, Nepal, Jordan, Chile, Togo, France, Norway, England, Ireland and Canada.

    Favourite Place to Shoot: Old Kona Airport State Beach Park in Kona because it is a hidden gem, so close to town and very spacious so we won't run into too many other people. It has a long coast line, and a gorgeous botanical garden which provides a variety of backdrops all in one location.

Three Things

  1. I worked as an outdoor guide and environmental educator for youth. I would take students on backpacking, whitewater canoeing and ocean canoeing trips in the Yukon Territory, Vancouver Island, and New Zealand. I absolutely loved this work and the places my travels brought me to but I was looking to establish some roots. In Hawaii, I can continue to meet people from around the country and around the world through photography while remaining in one place.
  2. I’ve cycled down the entire coast of Oregon and the entire coast of Tasmania with just me, myself, and my camping gear.
  3. I love slacklining, camping at the beach, finding new hikes around the island, doing yoga, rappelling waterfalls, and surfing. I also coordinate weddings on a coffee farm and absolutely love meeting the couples I work with. I LOVE working with kids and nanny for a wonderful family a few days a week. I live in a converted Volkswagon Van right on the ocean and spend mornings when I’m not shooting or editing in the water learning how to surf, snorkeling, or sea kayaking.
