The Bear Copenhagen

Today we’re talking about the best things in Copenhagen 🇩🇰 that happen to be highlighted in The Bear! Rewind back to Season 2, Episode 4 (“Honeydew”), and you’ll be transported to the colourful, beautiful, and very delicious streets of Copenhagen. Step aside, Carmy (sorry, Jeremy Allen White, we mean zero disrespect), Pastry Chef Marcus travels to Denmark’s capital city to train under a master baker and refine his craft, so that’s what we’re focusing on today. Serving as a quiet, reflective backdrop to his personal and professional growth, Copenhagen contrasts with Marcus’s intense Chicago kitchen scenes we’re used to seeing.

Here at Flytographer, we easily connect people with trusted photographers for fun photo shoots and have captured over three million memories worldwide. 🌍 The magic of Flytographer is both the experience and the photos. Explore cities with a fun, talented photographer and get wall-worthy photos to relive your trip, forever! Today, we’re going to dive into one of our favourite shows, talking more about sights, sounds, and tastes as we narrow down the top filming locations for The Bear 🎬 in Copenhagen (warning, this is basically a food tour!) … 🍽️

1. Noma

Copenhagen’s three-Michelin-star fine dining restaurant, Noma, is considered one of the most influential restaurants in modern culinary history. 🍴 The Bear is heavily inspired by Noma’s deep respect for ingredients, as well as a meticulous craft for dining; the same is reflected in Marcus’s personal journey in Denmark. Nailing a reservation at Noma isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you’re a fan of The Bear and fine dining, a visit here should absolutely top your list. 📍

2. Marcus’s Houseboat

We have fantastic news – did you know that Marcus’s houseboat is an actual Airbnb!? Hurra! 👏 The boat is located on Frederiksholms Kanal, between BLOX and the National Museum of Denmark, and it’s just as cool in real life. Want even more fantastic news? Landing reservations on the houseboat seems to be easier than those at the aforementioned Noma. 🤣

3. Hart Bageri

Hart Bageri is a world-renowned artisan bakery in Copenhagen, founded by British baker Richard Hart. Hart previously worked as head baker at Noma (see how all those dots are connecting!?); IRL, Hart Bageri is not only Copenhagen’s most famous bakery, it is also considered by some as one of the best – if not the best bakeries in the world. 🥐 Hart Bageri embodies the pursuit of perfection.

Fun fact: Actor Lionel Boyce actually trained at Hart Bageri to prepare for his role. (Anyone else now craving a Danish pastry? Or a couple boxes of pastries like Marcus nabbed? Just us…? 🙊)

5. Poulette

Poulette appears (quickly!) in this episode, highlighting one of Copenhagen’s hottest (coolest?) and yummiest fried chicken spots. 🍗 Poulette is fresh, vibrant, and a meal both you and Marcus can enjoy. If you want something more casual but still fab, Poulette’s chicken sandwich is a must-see/must-do/must-eat for anyone invested in the food scene. 😋

6. Kongens Nytorv Hot Dog Stand

Kongens Nytorv is one of Copenhagen’s most famous large public squares, and it’s one spot where you’ll find traditional Danish hot dog carts, also known as pølsevogne. 🌭 These carts/kiosks date back to the 1920’s and are a staple in Danish food culture. The exact stand visited by Marcus in The Bear is Joan’s Pølser at Kongens Nytorv. Who doesn’t love local street food?

Local tip! Wondering what to top your hot dog with? Traditional toppings include remoulade, ketchup, mustard, crispy fried or raw onions, and pickled cucumber slices.

7. Kongens Have

One of the most beautiful backdrops during this Copenhagen episode of The Bear is the gorgeously green Kongens Have (Danish for “the King’s Garden” 👒). Kongens Have is a historic park in central Copenhagen, and it’s notable because of the lush grass and historic architecture. Sit, stroll, have a picnic… You can enjoy Kongens Have any way you like.
