What’s the perfect way to celebrate 40 years of marriage? Getting all the kids and grandkids together in Maui. Bernie and Linda’s anniversary wish came true when their entire family gathered from all parts of the world to celebrate on the beaches of Maui. Read on for how they spent their time together in Hawaii.

“We wanted to commemorate a very special family reunion in Hawaii and our photos from Marie and Flytographer captured all the love, happiness and ohana (family) spirit. Mom and dad celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year and they wanted all their children and grandchildren – scattered across the Pacific from Canada to New Zealand – to be together in Hawaii for this milestone anniversary. Our gift to them was this photoshoot and we are all thrilled with the results and can’t thank you enough for capturing these once in a lifetime memories.  Marie was so relaxed and worked with everyone from the youngest to the eldest to capture them at their best, happiest and most relaxed. Mahalo, Merci, Kia ora, Maraming salamat!

“We did almost everything as a family – from ages 1 to 70 – which was no easy feat! We were blessed with some amazing surprises that included swimming and snorkelling with wild turtles on each island we visited! We watched sunrise from atop Mount Haleakala (Maui), sunset from a place literally called the End of the World, and we saw real live volcano lava and walked inside a lava tube on the Big Island!

“For large groups like our family, travel can be tricky. We went off season – after Easter – and got good rates for accommodations, rentals, etc. For families, forget coffee. You must try shaved ice at Ululani’s – go often as they have locations across the island and try different flavour combinations! We loved the ice cream, beans and condensed milk additions! The keiki (children) loved their rainbow shaved ice. Paia Fish Market was a favourite for our group – no fuss and great meal options at a great price. No reservations needed – you can walk in fresh from the beach and get delicious fish tacos, fish burgers and non-fish options, too. Great kids’ meals, too.

“Our photo shoot was one of our favourite memories from the vacation simply because it captures all of us together on the beach, at our most relaxed and fun-spirited having fun together. All of us agree that the best parts of the trip were on the beach or experiencing nature’s beauty across the Hawaiian islands.” – Catherine
