What is your proposal story?

With thunderstorms looming on their first day in Porto, Alastair quickly pivoted the original proposal plan. However, what he did not anticipate was AnnMarie being ready to go explore the city early, for the first (and only) time in her life. Strolling along the coastline and up the stairs to the viewpoint, Alastair dropped down on one knee, much to AnnMarie's surprise and excitement. The perfect moment was captured, right before they spent the day enjoying white wine, Portuguese seafood and each other's company. Safe to say, Porto will always have a special place in their hearts and they can't wait to go back again!

What is your love story?

We met in the ICU. I was working as a resident physician and she was one of the bedside nurses in the unit. We fell for each other quickly and moved to North Carolina together.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Beautiful people and beautiful architecture. The food and wine are just huge bonuses.

What is your proposal story?

We went for a stroll along the river before dinner at sunset. Flytographer suggested all the spots and I chose one that overlooked the bridge and the Ribeira district. It was perfect.

She loves books and was visiting Porto for one day just for this book store !!

What is your proposal story?

So my girlfriend was traveling Europe with her friend for a couple of days and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to propose! I reached out to the friend and worked out the details with her to make sure it goes smoothly. I packed my bags and I was off to Porto! Now I had an idea of how I wanted to propose but nothing finalized because I hadn't seen the book store so I was winging it. I landed and went straight to Livraria Lello. As I turned the corner I saw a lineup down the entire street and panicked thinking I am not going to get in. The lady told me I had to go around the corner and first get a ticket. At the counter I begun telling them I had emailed the bookstore and mentioned I was going to propose and I hope that's okay. They had no record of it and no one had responded to my email! At this point I was a bit stressed because it wasn't working out, but then they told me to follow them and talk to their supervisor. I explained I was proposing and they were thrilled! They offered me 5 priority tickets for myself, the photographers, my girlfriend and her friend! I gave them my girlfriend and her friends name and I told my girlfriend I bought you tickets online now you just have to say your name and they will give you the tickets! Off to a great start! I then went inside the bookstore and walked around planning my proposal, making videos to send to the photographer and her friend. Day of: Manpreet was flying in with her friend at 9:40 and they were going to check into their Airbnb and make their way to the library. Her friend and I coordinated they would leave at 11 and a 10-15 minute walk to the Livraria Lello. I woke up nervous but excited with some butterflies! I met with the photographers 20 minutes before Manpreet was coming to go over the plan and then made my way downstairs to hide! First message I received from her friend was they have the tickets and are making their way in. I was hiding under the stairs hoping they go directly upstairs and they did! As they made their way upstairs I messaged the photographer to place the custom book I had created on the shelf. The book was placed. As I'm hiding under the stairs I'm waiting for the "she's reading the book" message but it never came. Her friend messaged me she couldn't find the book photographer is messaging me saying she isn't reading it. I'm panicking. I tell her friend again where it is and finally she starts reading the book. I make my way to the front and request if the employees could slow down the traffic and then I sprint up the stairs and turn the corner to see her reading the book. The book is a collection of our memories and inside jokes over the years we've spent together. The last page talks about continuing to build these memories forever and me asking her to marry me. I'm standing at the stairs as she's reading the book and the employees had made sure no one was coming up or down the stairs. She finally finished the book made her way down the stairs and I was ready on one knee asking her to marry me!
