Travel Story

The first leg of our honeymoon included a stop in Seoul to visit family members who weren't able to attend our stateside wedding and we had been calling it our "duty-moon". We spent the first 3 days spending time with each other's families, which was nice, but let's face it, also plenty awkward and not that relaxing. We had scheduled a Flytographer shoot to kick-off the "fun" part of our honeymoon. This was the first day that we got to spend just the two of us in Seoul. It was also the first time either of us got to be tourists in a country where we've previously only had familial obligations. We really loved exploring together and feeling like we had a "secret language".

Travel Tips

It's super-touristy but we loved visiting Insadong and buying souvenirs in all the little shops there. We stopped for tea in the 3rd floor of Osulloc and that was a lovely little respite from the busy-ness of the street. We spent some time walking along Cheonggyecheon at different times, like in the morning and again at night. It's a very pretty and easy way to slip "away" from the heart of the city. As for eats, we tried and loved the high and the low. We were so impressed by our dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant (La Yeon). And the next night we headed out with a list of street foods to try in Myeongdong. My husband's favorite thing is Isaac Toast (why go to Korea for a sandwich?) but then I got teased for going to Dunkin' Donuts every day of our trip. I can't help that I love the unique-to-Korea donuts made with glutinous rice!
