Travel Story

My 40th Birthday was in November, so we decided to celebrate it with my family in the exact location where I celebrated my 30th.  NYC Baby!  But this time with our 3 young children in tow who absolutely fell in love with the city.  The day we took our family photos, we started off with breakfast in a small place in China Town and it was delicious.  Then we headed off to Dumbo across the Brooklyn Bridge to meet our Flytographer, Amanda who was so awesome with the kids and it shows in the photos. We had a lovely time capturing our little family on this Thanksgiving week adventure.  Once we were done, we headed towards downtown where we had my birthday celebration, a High Tea at The Peninsula.  The staff there were so gracious to us.  The kids had such a great time having High Tea with us and they literally ate it ALL up.  Once we were done, the hotel took us to Broadway, so we could catch a show, the kids first on Broadway musical, Anastasia.  I think their reaction to this amazing musical was by far my most favorite memory.  They were on cloud 9 after it was done as they LOVED the musical and my husband (a musical lover) also just amazed at the talent.  And walking back in the cool brisk air toward our hotel in China Town, I was literally pinching myself on what a fun 40th Birthday trip this was for all of us.  To say I was thankful was an understatement.  Thank you to Flytographer for capturing our little family for my birthday.  My favorite gift.

Travel Tips

A couple of tips come to mind.  Obviously, NYC has the plethora of places to visit.  First, if you are going to take the plunge and do the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tour, be the VERY first ones to be on the ferry.  We were quite literally the first ones going up Lady Liberty and it was a special time.  Second, Spotted Pig gastropub in West Village.  It's tiny but oh so special! Many locals do not want it to be known but I had my sources.  We went during off peak hours and the GM was gracious to give us the "best table".  They too were amazing to us and impressed that our children ate all that was on their unique menu.  The 8-year-old scarfed down a unique pate while the 7-year-old slurped down oyster’s mignonette and the 11 year old ballerina ate an entire artisan burger.  And lastly...eat your way through Little Italy.  You can ask which specific restaurant, but we tried 3 via app’s with reviews and were floored.  So good.
