Travel Story
It took us a while to decide on Maui for our honeymoon. We travel almost every month because work and fun so we wanted a location different from the typical cities we visit and somewhere special. Maui had the perfect combination of activities and relaxation! And every place we ate was amazing! My favorite memory of the trip was the Road to Hana! We did the whole entire thing in a day. I'm not a hiker by any means, but we were told if we were to do one hike it was the Pipiwai Trail in Haleakala National Park. Brian was super encouraging throughout the 4 miles and getting to the base of a 400 foot waterfall at the end of the trail made the whole thing worth it!
Travel Tips
We highly recommend driving the Road to Hana all the way to the end. Download the GyPSy App for it; it made the experience so much better! The guide has offline maps and will tell you places to stop and facts along the drive. On the way back, the guide goes more into the history of Hawaii and the Hawaiian culture! The app is so worth the $6! Almost everyone we talked to told us to go to Mama's Fish House, which was awesome! The service, atmosphere, view, and food were all great! There is a beach close by to Mama's and Paia called Ho'okipa Beach. Go there before dinner and you'll get to see the sea turtles come up onto the beach right around sunset! The best meal we had on Maui was at Lahaina Grill! We were blown away with all our dishes; especially the award winning berry pie! The town of Lahaina has Art Nights every Friday; it was fun to walk around all the galleries with a glass of wine!
