Travel Story
My best friend and I live across the country from each other so every year we plan a big trip somewhere together. For our 29th birthdays we planned a 12 day whirlwind cruise around the mediterranean. A new city every day. Our favourite city by far was Dubrovnik. Even though it was drizzling for most of the day and we had to pack as much into 8 hours before being back on the ship, the stunning white walls, food, and people were amazing! We ran around the tiny streets, eating delicious seafood, sampling the best Croatian wine and drinking too many sips of rakija. One of the highlights was taking a tiny boat ride around the Island of Lokrum. Although the island itself was dreary in the stormy weather, we were accompanied by the friendliest Russian couple who shared our terror as we rolled through the giant waves and rain. We were instantly bonded without being able to speak a word to each other. After our ride, we met our Flytographer Bozo, who took us to a part of the city we had not yet been. We ended up bumping into a few friends from back home that we had no idea were there! What are the chances for only being there for a few hours! We finished off the day, sharing a drink with him and our friends from back home before we had to run back to the ship (we were the last ones on!). Our photos for this day are some of my very favourite of the two of us, and we can’t wait to go back!
Travel Tips
Do the city wall walk! We are still in awe of the beautiful white walls against the sea, and the viewpoint of the city cannot be beat. If you get sea sick , maybe skip the boat ride ;). The main street is beautiful, but full of tourists and souvenir shops, take time to wander up the smaller streets which often lead to secret openings to the sea or cliffside restaurants. If you have time, pick up a bottle of wine from Radic Wines, a local vineyard and winery, to enjoy during your stay!
