Travel Story
When your husband says, "I have to go to Budapest for work, would you want to come too?", you say" YES!". Budapest wasn't on my bucket list, but I wasn't going to miss out on the unique opportunity to tag along if I could. Within three weeks of the proposed visit, we were on a plane there. We traveled with an arrival date and a departure date, and no real plans in between! It was a fun and carefree way to get to know a new city. While there, we tried out every form of public transportation possible. It makes for some great sightseeing and if you're lucky, some hilarious memories too!
Travel Tips
Get out and WALK! I hopped on a plane with very little planned for my five day stay in Budapest. The absolute best day I spent there was the one where I literally stepped out of my hotel and simply started to walk. Before, I knew it, I had effortlessly stumbled upon a whole days worth of opportunities. Strolling through a park lead me to a quiet cove to read in; hidden stairs opened up to the most breathtaking views of the Pest and the Danube River; a simple craving for a cappuccino turned into a pit stop to discover some Hungarian roots at the Folk History Museum; like a gift left exactly for me, the neighboring building was host of the Koller Galeria where I lost track of time, wondering through the sculpture garden; around the next corner: an antique shop! All this adventure started with one step in front of the other. Though most will tell you that the main attractions and places to be are on the Pest side, I truly enjoyed living on the Buda side, just steps away from the Fisherman's Bastion.
