How did you meet?

What is your love story?

Valeria and I were brought together by our professor, who told us several years ago that we should marry as soon as he found out we were dating. Getting through grad school afterwards, together at times and apart for others, gave us time to explore what our relationship meant to us and how we would be together in the long run. She showed me in many ways during that time that she is a deeply loving and caring person with a boundless enthusiasm for life, no matter how simple or hectic it can be at times. We both took a while to get to where we were finally completely certain we wanted to commit to forever with one another, but I think it happened for both of us right around the same time. Valeria's patience and her ability to consider others, no matter how difficult, led to an unbreakable trust in the end that made it easy to propose to her.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We had been to a different part of Spain together before and had a great time, and since then had looked forward to returning. I got the opportunity to return this summer and asked Valeria to join me; I thought the coast of San Sebastián would make a beautiful location for the proposal.

What is your proposal story?

We had a peaceful breakfast early in the morning in the southwest end of San Sebastián, then took a stroll together towards Miramar Palace, which we had seen from the Old Quarter before. Valeria had just asked me along the way when I was going to ask her father for her hand, which unbeknownst to her I had already done. Once we got to the palace gardens, we walked down to the coastal lookout and I pulled her aside between two palm trees to pop the question.
