Chiron & Kassidy's Proposal Story in Reykjavik

How did you meet?

Bumble

What is your love story?

The unconditional love Kassidy showed me through 4 years of dating was remarkable (pre-covid and through). Her love for me was so obvious and I could not help but feel the same. That love is reflected in the way she treats me and that speaks volumes. On the day to day, when I realized how much I missed her presence, (even though she would only be gone for a few hours), would be a defining moment.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Kassidy always wanted to see the Northern Lights. When we first started dating she had a trip planned to Iceland, but I was not working at the time, so she spent her savings dating me. We planned a trip to finally see them and then I added an extra memory 💍.

What is your proposal story?

I told Kassidy we had a "tour" planned at RauĂ°hĂłlar in Iceland (beautiful red rock formations). That tour wasn't really a tour, but a secret photo shoot. We met our photographer Ernir and strolled along to "the spot" and Ernir then said out loud (paraphrased): You Two look great, let's get some photos. Then I got down on one knee and Kassidy instantly started to cry with tears of joy. It was a wonderful moment we will remember forever.

Best tip for proposing in Reykjavik

DRESS SUPER WARM IF DONE IN WINTER. We come from Washington/Oregon so we understand cold to a certain level, but not like this. It was roughly 15 degrees Fahrenheit with rough winds (wind is what really got to us). We booked an hour worth of photos and by the end of it we couldn't feel toes, hands or nose (worth it)!

William's Proposal Story in Reykjavik

What is your love story?

We met on a cruise ship while both sailing with our families in the Baltic Sea. Melissa is from Minnesota and Will is from Tennessee, but it just so happened that even though we lived across the country from one another, Melissa was going to visit a friend in Nashville only two weeks after we met. Will decided to drive two hours to pick Melissa up from the airport. The friend that Melissa went to visit got called in for jury duty and we ending up hanging out every day. Since then, we've been inseparable. It's now been almost seven years; we've moved in together, started our fur family, and now we're getting married! ***Used names for clarity

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We came to Iceland to celebrate our first year together, and it only seemed fitting to commit to the rest of our years together in this very special place.

What is your proposal story?

The day was really windy and cold, but that didn't stop it from being perfect. We went to a wool factory and walked around back to look at a beautiful waterfall. There, Will got down on one knee, Melissa cried, and Rakel took wonderful pictures!

Robinson's Proposal Story in Reykjavik

What is your love story?

We're often asked how we met -  especially as a couple who started out in two different states. Well, Caitlin was visiting some friends in the area when we ran into each other... a few times. After some spontaneous karaoke, an evening at the craps table, and a late-night viewing of Mean Girls, we were kind of hooked on each. After she left for home, I knew I needed to get her back to DC for a date. A month later, I somehow convinced her to be my date to the French Embassy Christmas Gala and got her on a plane. The weekend included Christmas lights at the zoo, ravioli and red wine, a red dress and a black tux... and pretty much no sleep.  As much as we hated to admit it, we quickly realized we were about to spend a lot of late nights on the road.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Caitlin and I are adventurers at heart, which is why pairing our story with Flytographer made so much sense. Iceland is magical - from the Northern Lights, to the food, to the glaciers and ice caves... there's no place like it. It only made sense to find a place as magical and memorable to make our marks.

What is your proposal story?

If you're a mind reader, you could've heard two VERY different stories going on in our minds on the morning of January 26, 2019. The boy there in blue was FREAKING OUT (that's me). The girl in green (that's Cait) had no idea what was coming.  Friends that hear my side recall how slowly Caitlin ate her breakfast, or how many pictures of her soft boiled egg she took, or how much sass I got for making sure my hair was parted in just the right spot. Friends that hear Caitiln's side laugh about how Caitlin remembers me losing all conversational ability, eating way too fast, and taking extra long in the shower. Back to the big moment... I got in position, just like my Flytographer team and I planned. I took my selfie, said the only line I rehearsed, then panicked without a further script while Caitlin just smiled at me. It was a beautiful smile, and I wish y'all could've seen it from where I was standing! Once I had rambled through words and sentences that didn't make sense, she finally said yes! What a day! After that, we got a personal tour of all the most beautiful spots in Reykjavic with a photographer who knew his stuff and knew how to capture all the magic of the day. Now we have a little album and a big story that we LOVE pulling out to share with friends, family, and strangers in the elevator - thanks largely to Flytographer!

Timothy's Proposal Story in Reykjavik

What is your love story?

I always tell people that we met online, and we did. But not in the way you might think. In 2013 after I finished university in the UK I decided to do a ski season in Canada. I got a job working for a small resort working in BC. As I'm I get to my airport I discover that Calgary (where I'm flying to) is under heaving flooding and everything has shut down. So I'm supposed to get a 4 hour greyhound bus on the far side to get to the resort and now this was not going to happen. So there I am, sitting in Heathrow departure lounge, frantically massaging the employee Facebook page for the resort asking if anyone has any ideas or can recommend anything I can do. Then Amanda messaged me. She said she was staying with her aunt who lived in Calgary and as the main road was closed they were going to drive the long way to get there.....and did I want a ride? So I land, in a country I've never been to. Then go to the house, of someone I've never met...and there she was. We drove 7 hours to get to the resort (I even had to navigate for a while...that was a mistake.) And we became friends then. A couple months later we started dating. And here we are.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I chose thingvellir because it's the point that the north American and the Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Amanda being from Canada and me being from the UK I liked the symbolism there. Also it doesn't hurt that its utterly beautiful there.

What is your proposal story?

She said yes! Which is the most important thing after all but I was stressing a little bit. I knew we had a time we needed to be in place and we decided last minute to check out the geysir about 2 hours before. Now it's about an hours drive each way so we were pretty tight on time. So I may have had to rush her slightly as my beautiful Amanda, who is never late for anything, almost missed her own proposal. Thankfully empty roads and a lead foot meant we made it to the spot in time and Ernir was there to subtly point us in the right direction. The look of shock and joy on Amanda's face is now perfectly captured forever.
