La Tagliata - highly recommended by local Italians - great authentic italian food Collina Bakery - Great pastries and gelato

What are the best things to do in Positano?

We did a sunset tour and booked with the vendor by the dock. It was a private sunset tour with another couple that cost 350 euros. Not necessarily the cheapest but it was worth it for the privacy along with the gorgeous view and beautiful sunset. We also took a day tour to Capri island booked through getyourguides. The tour picked us up from our hotel and headed towards the town of Nerano (which is a small neighbouring town) where we docked to a boat towards Capri Island. We also went to Annacapri and took the ski lift to the top. I would really recommend the ski lift ride. It was really worth the 12 euros (roundtrip) and the views were absolutely stunning.

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Positano?

We weren't on a budget for our honeymoon. Positano is definitely a pricier area to stay overnight. During our honeymoon, we stayed in Sorrento which was about 10km away from Positano and we had a seaview suite at a much affordable price (that overlooked Mount Vesuvius and the town of Sorrento).

Brenda's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

Our favourite most memorable meal was at Adamo ed Eva at the Eden Roc hotel. We booked the Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing on their romantic private patio. It was our anniversary and they gave us the corner table which feels like you are floating over Positano at night.

What are the best things to do in Positano?

The museum tour under the St Maria Assunta church is incredible! A dining room of a first century villa with beautiful frescoes was perfectly preserved by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvio in 79 A.D. Also creepily cool to see the medieval crypt that was first built under the church and used until the 1700’s. (Added bonus it is kept at 15 degrees. Good way to escape 38 degree heat for a while.)

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Positano?

There are many romantic spots. The Arienzo Beach Club would be a lovely way to spend the day, with pre-ordered lunch and bottle of champagne. The pre-ordered romantic patio meal at Ademo ed Eva restaurant was so memorable with breathtaking views and delicious sea inspired meal with wine pairing. A perfect anniversary meal. Torre Trasita was where we stayed, and the family who own this historical tower were so kind and gracious to us. Staying here was truly a dream come true.

We loved Remmese in Positano. The food and cocktails were delicious. I had the best seafood and pasta, plus limoncello-spritz! We had a private water taxi take us back into town and enjoyed this “fancy night dinner”. It was such a treat.

What are the best things to do in Positano?

We loved Franco’s bar! The night life there is so fun and the drinks are delicious! We also met amazing tourists while there and closed the place down.

Lindzie's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

The best restaurants for amazing views and great food are Il Capitano, Restaurant Bruno, and La Sponda. Franco's Bar has the best drinks with a view - be sure to get there about 30 minutes before they open if you want a table along the railing. If you like to dance, be sure to check out Music on The Rocks - it's a nightclub inside a cave along the beach! Grab a late dinner at the restaurant, Rada, and stay at your table until the club opens at 11pm to skip the line and walk straight into the club!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

Get to town by ferry for mouth-dropping views upon your arrival. Then, book a 4-6 hour boat tour either around the coastline or even better, out to Capri - the views are breathtaking from the sea! If you want to go into the Blue Grotto, be sure to book an early departing boat - boats begin lining up around 8:30am and they start taking people into the grotto at 9am, if you don't arrive before then, you'll wait a very long time (sometimes up to 2 hours) to get in the grotto and you're only allowed to stay in there for 3-4 minutes, so a long wait really isn't worth it. You'll also need cash to get inside the grotto!

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Positano?

Book the suite at Hotel Montemare to enjoy a romantic night in a private hot tub on your balcony overlooking the sea and the beach. Make dinner reservations at La Spoda, a Michelin star restaurant, for a delicious dinner with the best views in town.

Demerie's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

Our favorite meal in Positano was while dining at La Sponda restaurant at the Le Sirenuse hotel. We ordered the lobster pasta for two and it was incredible. The views on the terrace are also great! Highly recommend making reservations in advance for this one.

What are the best things to do in Positano?

We recommend waking up early to walk around Positano city center. It's much more charming before the town (+ tourists) wake! One of our favorite days was spent at the beach club. We loved the views and lounge chair service at Lo Scogliera beach resort!

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Positano?

The bus and ferry system will take you between the towns along the Amalfi Coast, so don't be afraid to get out and explore outside of Positano!

Brandon's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

La Tagliata Fattoria was our favorite spot near the city. It is on the mountain overlooking the city, so it offers great views of the whole coast. The food is served family style with no menu. The staff simply brings out the next course, filled with all the food they're cooking that day with many ingredients sourced from their local garden. Amazingly, the price is reasonable. Just be sure to make reservations. I would also recommend exploring further out of the city if possible, we didn't find any bad food the whole trip.

What are the best things to do in Positano?

We did a boat tour of the Amalfi coast and Capri and it was definitely my favorite activity. Of course choose any beach and it will be beautiful, just go early in the morning or around sunset to avoid the majority of the crowds.

Courtney's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

Ristorante C’Era Una Volta! This restaurant is absolutely a hidden gem! It’s VERY high in the cliffs (we were not prepared for the amount of stairs!) but worth everything! The food was incredible and the staff was so gracious! Because it’s off the beaten path, it’s much less touristy which also makes it much cheaper. Would highly recommend!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

The best part of our stay in Positano was simply being in the crystal clear waters! Swimming was SO refreshing and relaxing. We also recommend taking a boat tour, either from Positano, or around Capri!

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Positano?

Wear comfortable shoes and know there will be lots of stairs :) Try to stay not too far up the hill to have less stairs to walk up. Get a Porter to take your luggage up to your hotel! ( 10 euros per bag) Avoid restaurants on the beach which are mostly all tourist traps. Bring your own towels to lay on the beach. Try the limoncello :)
