Giuseppe in the Hotel Marincanto makes the absolute best drinks in the city! You must also stop at Collins bakery for a snack.

What are the best things to do in Positano?

The path of the Gods was amazing, but it’s a serious hike. I would not recommend the hike if you do not like heights, are hungover or don’t feel like you can climb hundreds of steps.

What is your best travel tip for Positano?

You will need to rent a driver to get to/from Positano.

Kate's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

Da Vincenzo for both the food and atmosphere. They focus on local, seasonal ingredients and have plenty of appetizer, pasta, main course and dessert options. If you like lemon (and I hope you do if you’re coming to the Amalfi Coast!), finish your meal with the region’s traditional dessert - Delizia al Limone. It’s like heaven on a plate. Buon appetito!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

Loved wandering the streets of Positano, shopping and stopping at Collina Positano Bakery for pastries. Also, having a pair (or two!) of custom sandals made is a must. I recommend going to Nana. Their quality and attention to detail is incredible and prices are very reasonable. Positano is also a great home base to take day trips from. I recommend Ravello (particularly a visit to Villa Cimbrone) and a private day long boat tour around Capri (find a tour that gives you some time on the island as well).

What is the best tip for going on your babymoon to Positano?

There’s a lot of walking all around the Amalfi Coast, so pace yourself. Pick one activity/location per day and build in lots of relaxation time.

Annie's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

There were SO many! La Vincenzo's seafood pasta and Chez Black's seafood risotto were my husband and I's two favorite things we ate during our time there!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

The entire town of Positano looked straight out of a travel magazine cover, so just walking around and taking in the UNREAL views were a highlight! Would absolutely recommend spending a day at the beach, pizza for lunch on the beach was a great idea, or taking a boat tour/ferry ride along the coast. The Amalfi Coast is beautiful from the water, so taking in the views from the sea is an absolute must for me!

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Positano?

Get a private car to take you to your hotel/airbnb when you first arrive - it is worth it, I promise! We flew into Rome and took the train to Naples, and arranged for a private car transfer from the Naples train station to our B&B in Positano. The stairs in Positano are perfect for working off all the gelato, pasta and pizza -- but maybe not for hauling heavy bulky luggages! If you get motion sick or car sick, I highly recommend you bringing some meds along just in case! Whether arriving and/or getting around by bus or car, the roads in the region are extremely twisty along a cliffside -- and that would help if you plan to take any boats/ferries as well!

Lesley's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

Amazing food & service at both Adamo ed Eva at Hotel Eden Roc and Il Tridente at Hotel Poseidon. Adamo ed Eva comes with a specular view even if sitting inside. Both are on the pricey side, but worth the splurge if you are looking for a place for a fancy dinner!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

Shopping and taking a ferry to explore other parts of the Amalfi Coast.

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Positano?

If you want to take a ferry to somewhere else while you're there, try it on the first day you're there in case there is rough seas that don't allow for ferry travel and then you have more days to try.

We went during the off-season but still a few wonderful restaurants were open. We absolutely loved Blu Bar, Mediterraneo, and Buca di Bacco. Blu Bar offered amazing views and seating on the beach. Buca di Bacco has amazing food, so did Mediterraneo!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

We loved sightseeing. Positano is magical. The houses are so well decorated and the whole town is one of a kind. Hiking the Path of the Gods is an absolute must!! We visited Sorrento too by the Sitabus and it was more lively for the winter time. We loved it. I suggest visiting Amalfi and neighboring towns if you have time too!!

What is your best travel tip for Positano?

So the stairmaster every day for like two months before you go. You have the option to bus but stairs are kind of inevitable in Positano and most of them are steep!! Worth the views though!

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

For a fancier dinner, we loved Aldo's at Le Sirenuse! The lobster and view were equally incredible. For a more down-to-earth, true Italian experience we loved Da Constantino. The food was incredible, wine was cheap and the pasta was fresh and delicious!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

Spend a day cruising to Capri, spend another day relaxing at a beach club and spend a final day exploring the streets, shops and local restaurants.

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Positano?

Walk the streets hand in hand to take it all in! Stop at local bakeries, shops and anywhere that offers anything lemon- slushes and sorbet!

Yes there are many instagram, scene-y restaurants you probably have been recommended to visit. Here is a couple off the beaten path options that you will have a good quality meal at: 1. Da gabrisa 2. We have a lot of cool off the beaten path memories because our hotel offered some excursions daily including: 1. insane hike up to the iron cross above Nocelle... wear trainers or hiking shoes if you have this is a challenging one. 2. Take a boat trip to Nerano and eat lunch at Taverna Capitano 1 michelin star restaurant- hyper local food. 3. If you enjoy the beach, rent a daybed at La Scogliera spend the day swimming, people watching, dining, drinking and catnapping.

If you consider yourself a discerning/ sophisticated diner and you are going to read tripadvisor/google or yelp reviews, read the Italian reviews when making decisions for dining. Also look at the ratios of Italian reviews to other languages.
