What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Positano?

The stairs are a bit difficult to traverse due to the vast amount. It was tough on the kids. The buses were very crowded in peak travel months and taxis were a bit pricey.

What are the best things to do in Positano?

Arienzo beach club (book ahead!) for a day on a private beach; walking to Atrani from the Amalfi ferry dock for an afternoon of swimming and pasta at Le Arcate.

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Positano?

Make dinner reservations! Most places are booked a day or two in advance during the busy season. If you're staying in Positano proper, expect it to get Disneyland-level busy from 9AM - 4PM each day as all of the Amalfi coast day-trippers flood the city. We enjoyed relaxing during the afternoons in our hotel, or exploring other cities to avoid the rush. Things calm back down in the evening and are always wonderful in the mornings.

Michelle's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

We visited Positano for the day as we stayed in Nerano (Villa Flory) and just enjoyed everything. Collina Bakery had the tastiest desserts, with the best whole lemon gelato! So incredibly yummy!

What are the best things to do in Positano?

Honestly, just being there was amazing and a bucket list experience. My favorite part was walking down from the cathedral and going onto the beach. My breath was taken away as I stood on the sand and slowly turned around and looked at the town’s beautiful colored cliff buildings. I was in complete awe. Everyone was so nice and welcoming I really didn’t want to leave.

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Positano?

We have teenagers so giving them some time to explore on their own was something they loved. They also loved swimming at the beach. Renting chairs was worth it! I definitely recommend a private boat to tour Capri and the Amalfi coast. It’s well worth the cost. Being able to see things tailored to us and what we like was absolutely amazing. We were able to swim into the blue grotto as we arrived just as it closed! Spectacular!! So many memories made and our photos from Pierpaolo will be my most favorite souvenirs from our trip.

Allison's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

In Positano, it is hard to narrow it down to one favorite restaurant (in Italy alone there are so many!). One of my favorite experiences was La Tagliata. They have a shuttle that will pick you up in the middle of town and take you to the very top of Positano. Incredible views are guaranteed. You will arrive at a private family farm and this is where their restaurant is. Upon arriving you will be greeted as family into the restaurant that is run entirely by the family who owns and lives there. You will be seated and immediately they will bring you bottles of wine and appetizers. This will be followed by pasta courses, meat courses, dessert, topping off the amazing experience with Limoncello! You will get to try a bit of everything they have cooked fresh with all of their own resources. It is a must-try experience! If you’re lucky, you’ll even get to meet the chef as well (their sweet Mamma!).

What are the best things to do in Positano?

We took this trip with friends and one of our favorite activities we did was renting a private boat, with a captain, and spending the day up and down the coast. We saw beautiful sea caves and grottoes, incredible cliffs and natural landscapes, and iconic views of Positano. We even got to make a stop on the island of Capri for lunch and some shopping! We spent the entire day in awe at the gorgeous sites, sipping Prosecco! I will never forget how beautiful this day and experience was for my husband and I with our friends!

What is the best tip for a friends' getaway in Positano?

Be prepared for steps! There are a lot of them. If you visit in April, you will have days that are sunny, but also with chances of rain, so bring a rain jacket and umbrella. The evenings did feel cold in early April. Consider hiring a private car to take you on a tour or to visit other villages along the coast such as, Sorrento, Amalfi, and Ravello! Our driver was from the small Village of Minori and he took us to an amazing restaurant for lunch. Plan ahead and you may be lucky and have a driver who has a lot of insider tips. :)

Jennifer's Travel Tips for Positano

What are the best places to eat and drink in Positano?

La Tagliata - highly recommended by local Italians - great authentic italian food Collina Bakery - Great pastries and gelato

What are the best things to do in Positano?

We did a sunset tour and booked with the vendor by the dock. It was a private sunset tour with another couple that cost 350 euros. Not necessarily the cheapest but it was worth it for the privacy along with the gorgeous view and beautiful sunset. We also took a day tour to Capri island booked through getyourguides. The tour picked us up from our hotel and headed towards the town of Nerano (which is a small neighbouring town) where we docked to a boat towards Capri Island. We also went to Annacapri and took the ski lift to the top. I would really recommend the ski lift ride. It was really worth the 12 euros (roundtrip) and the views were absolutely stunning.

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Positano?

We weren't on a budget for our honeymoon. Positano is definitely a pricier area to stay overnight. During our honeymoon, we stayed in Sorrento which was about 10km away from Positano and we had a seaview suite at a much affordable price (that overlooked Mount Vesuvius and the town of Sorrento).
