J-tree has always been a rad time for me n my friends and I wanted to share my love with the outdoors and this specific place with my significant other.

Karl's Proposal Story in Palm Springs

What is your love story?

Melanie and I grew up together as kids until she moved away when I was 7. Her and my sister remained penpals and best friends over the years but I lost touch with her. After an extremely long hiatus and focusing on my career, Melanie and I reconnected 3 years ago when my sister was late to the party and recently joined FaceBook. Our mutual connection had her pop-up on my feed where I read some of her personal notes that tugged at my heartstrings. We became good friends again after so long and eventually it grew into something much more.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I had originally planned to propose in Guatemala but a passing conversation made me realize she had already guessed it would happen there. So I decided on Palm Springs because I could hide the purpose of the trip under the guise of a work conference. More importantly though, the landscape of Mount San Jacinto speaks to who we are, nature lovers at heart.

What is your proposal story?

When our photographer Melissa used the line “pretend like you like each other” it was my cue to get on one knee. But because I’m always fooling around with Melanie she thought I was being silly and told me to stop horsing around. Then, when she noticed me reaching for something in my sock, she thought, NO, is this really happening? Then she jumped and said, NO, I don’t mean NO, I mean yes! She was so surprised.
