Salvatore's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

Jessica and I met like so many these days, on a dating app. Jessica says she knew I was the one when I showed up with a toy for her cat on our first date.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I chose Central Park amidst the Coronavirus pandemic simply because so many other ideas I had were just not available to me. It ended up being a beautiful location for an amazing day.

What is your proposal story?

Jessica and I did some walking around Central Park and eventually stopped at a lake-viewing area, overlooking the iconic San Remo building. I started to read her a letter I had written and that's when I realized just how nervous I was. Jessica seemed to take a few seconds to realize what was happening and that's when she burst into tears. I asked her to marry me and she said yes, even though I had opened the ring box upside down!

Jennifer's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

We met online! Our distance was outside of each other’s app search parameters, so we’re still not sure how we got luck enough to match. I fell in love with her beautiful eyes, sense of humor, confidence and caretaking nature to her friends and family.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I realized I was in love with Becca after about 6 months of dating when we went to NYC for Pride. I proposed in Christopher Park in NYC, the site of the Stonewall Riots in 1969 that marked the beginning of the modern gay rights movement and current location of the yearly pride festivities.

What is your proposal story?

I got her to Grenwich Village by saying we were doing an LGBT history walking tour. Once in the park, our photographer pretended to be associated with the tour and I asked him to take a picture of us while we waited for the tour to start so he could block us out in a good spot. Immediately after I got into position and onto one knee. I was so nervous and I think my partner and I both blacked out a little while it was happening!

Sean's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

We met on Hinge. I knew immediately she was different than anyone I had ever met before. Even though she spilled a drink on me during our first two dates, every time we went our separate ways I couldn't wait to see her again. By the end of our first month together I knew that one day I would marry this girl.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Bow Bridge is her favorite place in all of New York. I wanted to make this the most amazing moment for her so there was no other place I even thought about proposing.

What is your proposal story?

I definitely blacked out in the moment and do not remember exactly what I said. I told her that her Christmas present this year was a photo shoot in the park for holiday cards and that I definitely would not be proposing. Not long into our shoot, after the photographer gave me the go ahead, I looked at her and went "So I lied" and got down on one knee.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We had already planned a trip to NYC to come cheer on our favorite hockey team at 3 of their away games. I choose Central Park because I thought the fall foliage would be a beautiful backdrop, since fall is our favorite season.

What is your proposal story?

The morning of, it was drizzling out and slightly chilly. As we walked through Central Park to Bow Bridge, the park was practically empty. However, the weather worked in our favor because the moment felt so private since we were basically alone. As soon as he started to get down on one knee and I realized what was happening, I starting crying. It was such a magical moment.

Michael's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

I’m a musician at my church and one day we were invited to an event which happened to be where she was. I remember looking out and seeing her and she just captured my attention. They was just this sparkle about her. Her smile, her energy and confidence. A day after she added me on social media haha and I added her back and for the longest time we kept in touch and had minor conversations. One day I had the courage to ask her out and the rest is history. Immediately I knew that she was different than most girls. She has this joy and smile that never goes away. Her energy is really high and it’s crazy because I’m more introverted but we go together so perfectly. I’ve never felt more comfortable with anyone. All this was easy to see from the beginning and I knew I wanted to marry this girl.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

She loves NY! She talks about it all the time. She’s makes several work trips out there with her company and one day it just lined up perfectly. I really wanted to capture the beautiful skyline here and that’s exactly what we did.

What is your proposal story?

I’m from California. I had her best friend and her sister helping me plan this all out. We talked about several spots in LA. Gardens, parks, the usual kind of stuff. I knew in my head that I wanted something that really captured the city. She loves the city. One day she mentioned to me she was making a trip to NY, her favorite place to go to! At that moment it clicked for me. I went back and told the girls, I have this crazy idea... haha I told them I want to fly to NY and surprise her on her trip. The girls were floored and were all for it. We reached out to her close coworker and he helped us get the info we needed. Eventually establishing communication with her supervisor who was going on the trip with her. She was excited, she was all for it! We set up the day and established the plan. There was a few bumps in the road with planning the flight but I was set on making this happen. So we had a plan. She would arrive at the hotel and we would give her some time to settle in and get ready. She was under the impression that her boss wanted to have a night out. Go watch a play and have a dinner. She had no clue. So the plan was for her to meeting her in the lobby but instead of finding her boss she would find me. The day and time finally came. She comes down and immediately sees me and she was so confused. She didn’t know what was going on and didn’t know what to do. I assured her there was no plans with her boss and we were going out to explore NY. We headed to Dumbo. She was nervous and for the first time really quiet haha. I took some time and let her know everything is good. We took some photos and enjoyed the views. Eventually I led her to a location where Johnny our photographer was. He was taking photos of the scenery and we came by and took a selfie. I asked him if he can take a photo of us. Little did she know we had this planned all along. Johnny obliged and took a few with her phone. He then offered to take photos with his camera to send to us which we were totally down for. Little did she know that this was it. He took a few shots and we made eye contact and he gave me a thumbs up. It was time. I got down on one knee and the look on her face was priceless. I looked her in the eyes and asked her to marry me. She said yes!! Her hand was shaking as I was putting the ring and it was probably the greatest moment I’ve ever had in my life. We went on with the photoshoot and everything was amazing.

Eduardo's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

We first met while playing soccer together and were just teammates for some time. We then ran into each other at party one day and had our first real conversation. It felt like something just clicked between us and we could not stop talking to each other. We both immediately realized there was something special between us and haven't looked back ever since!

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We went to NYC a year prior and had an incredible time together. We were going back this time to see one of our favorite artists, John Mayer, and I knew it was the perfect time to pop the question.

What is your proposal story?

I told her that we were meeting a friend of mine for brunch and hoped that she wouldn't realize what was going on. After tackling all of her questions and a bit of NYC traffic, we finally made it to the spot. I told her my friend was running late and that we should take a picture in front of Brooklyn Bridge in the meantime. I went to take a selfie of us and instead got down on one knee.

Ryan's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

Danielle and I met in college through a mutual friend. Despite growing up 10 minutes apart in the same town, we somehow did not meet until we left for college. We spent 5 years together, almost to the day, before getting engaged, and I'd like to think we both knew we were the one for each other from the very beginning. We are each others' best friends, and that's what matters most to us.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We both live in New York City now, so I knew I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful city skyline.

What is your proposal story?

I truly don't know how, but the proposal went off without a hitch! I had the rooftop of her apartment building on Wall Street rented out for the evening and set up the proposal spot on the corner so Danielle would have the view of the city in front of her while I proposed. One of her friends set up a decoy "happy hour" which I was running late to, so they did a quick tour of the building to see some of the amenities, and eventually the rooftop. I was waiting patiently (re: pacing nervously) on the roof with our friends and photographer hidden in the wings for Danielle to walk out and right into her own engagement.

What is your love story?

Since the start we’ve been drawn together by our mutual interest in health and science. Our uniquely introverted personalities with aspirations for adventure has drawn us closer together day by day and I could not have imagined sharing the rest of my life with anyone else.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

New York was meant to be just another travel vacation scheduled into our busy lifestyles. Seeing the beautiful skyline in preparation for the trip convinced me that it would the perfect place to pop the question.

What is your proposal story?

I had planned an elegant evening out by the beach. She had no idea that when we took a stroll to see the beautiful New York skyline, that a photographer was waiting to capture our moment. As the sunset was setting in, we were there standing on the beach waiting for the “bystander” to take our photo, and I asked her to marry me.

What is your love story?

Me & Kirsty Meet through School. We had know each other for a year or so in secondly school and the ended up being school sweethearts. 8 years later we are still putting up with each other. Iv always know kirsty has been the one. Ever since day one really it's just taken me a really long time to get down on one knee.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We both have been desperate to go to New York. We love the city life. So we thought for our 8 year anniversary we would fly over to the big apple.

What is your proposal story?

8 years in the making. It was definitely a nerve wracking one to day the least. But central park was the looking and the weather was perfect the sky was blue the sun was out. With it being a beautiful sunny Saturday everyone was out in force to enjoy the sun. But the spot we chose was nice and quite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The sun was shining off the lake and the rowing boats made a great back drop. I couldn't of asked for much more. It was the perfect day.

Chance's Proposal Story in New York City

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We are about to graduate college together in December and begin our next chapter in life. We see ourselves moving to New York City after graduation, so I figured that proposing to her at her favorite spot in the city (Gapstow Bridge in Central Park) would be a great way to start the next chapter. Our photographer Amanda recommended a morning proposal, because the lighting would be best and the crowds would be minimal.

What is your proposal story?

We really lucked out with the weather. It was a beautiful morning in New York City - 72 degrees and blue skies. Central Park looked beautiful as always, but even more so on this morning. We began our walk through Central Park - walking over Gapstow Bridge to the North side facing the Midtown Manhattan skyline. As we approached I saw that Amanda was perfectly positioned, just as we had planned. I looked over at Faith, and it was clear that she was clueless with regards to what was about to happen. I told Faith that we should go down to the waterfront and ask someone (Amanda) to take our photo, and she agreed. So we made our way down and asked Amanda to take a photo of us with my phone. She happily agreed and took a few photos. When she returned the phone, I reached down to my backpack and switched the phone out for a ring box. All of a sudden I was hand in hand in this beautiful setting with the love of my life. The moment was finally here. I got down on my knee and proposed to her while Amanda captured the moment beautifully - our next chapter had officially begun.

Jeremy's Proposal Story in New York City

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Although we met as adults in California, we both grew up in New York as children living only a 10 minute drive from each other. We took a vacation to NY together in March 2017. We stood under Bethesda Terrace in awe of its beauty and the buzz of the city and told each other ideally we’d both love to move back to the east coast for a short while before our 30s. As luck would have it, we were both given career opportunties to make the move just a year later. After the move I knew I wanted to propose at the steps because we had come full circle and wanted to close the loop on the hope of being back here we had discussed with each other not that long ago. It’s where we discussed changes we hoped for ourselves and now where we promised each other new beginnings and a life together.

What is your love story?

We met through both of our younger siblings playing sports together and it grew from there. I knew she was the one as she has always been there where others haven’t, she is caring and funny, supportive and outgoing with a down to earth attitude. She makes me a better person and that is how I knew she was the one.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

New York was chosen as it is such a stunning city with so much happening. Central Park was chosen as it has an amazing back drop of the city with a touch of green.

What is your proposal story?

The proposal went fantastic, we started at Central Park in Sheeps Meadow where I got down on one knee and proposed. We then headed to the fountain and took more photos and finished off in Time Square.

Ryan's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

We met through my neighbour Stephanie (her cousin) was invited out to dinner to make it a table of 4 instead of 3. We both had similar prior breakups not too far apart from one another so right off the back we had quite a bit to chat about. As cliche as it sounds we really hit it off from the start and never looked back ... of course being out of a relationship there's ups and downs but over the past year and a half we managed those speed bumps into a healthy loving relationship.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

On her birthday Aug 5th the prior year we decided to travel to Nashville (both haven't been before) wanted to continue the tradition and try NYC for her birthday. I thought that the timing was right for us and the location would be perfect after doing some research on google.

What is your proposal story?

The proposal went smooth as can be except for I was nervous and quite hot that weekend in NYC. I kept the secret alive both customizing a ring for her and planning this shoot wth the help of flytographer. Pictures came out great and captures both how shocked and excited she was.

Grady's Proposal Story in New York City

What is your love story?

I met Megan on Bumble. We started talking and things were going fairly well. I asked her if she had any pets. She told me yes, she had a dog and sent me a picture. It was a cute scruffy terrier mix with a mustache. I looked again at the puppy and again a third time starting to get a little confused and wondering if someone was playing a trick on me. Her dog looked exactly like my cousin's rescue dog named Harvey. I couldn't resist...I responded back to Megan, "Is your dog's name Harvey?". I knew it was a long shot and I'd probably come off as a creepy weirdo but it looked just like him! Megan more than a little freaked out at this point responded instantly, "........Ya, how'd you know????" At this point I'm coming off as a NEXT level stalker and poor Megan was rightfully scared to death. I start typing as fast as I can, "Do you know Robin? She's my cousin and dog sits for me while I'm out of town. My dog Dierks loves playing with Harvey!" Turns out that Megan and my cousin Robin worked together at the same hospital, same floor, same shift and had become friends outside of work a few months prior. Megan had just decided to adopt Harvey and was house sitting for my cousin as kind of a dog test drive with Harvey while the whole Bumble text exchange above was playing out. To add to it, Robin had been secretly trying to set us up on a date.  How Megan and I met is bizarre, creepy, comical and probably should have gone wrong before we really started. At the same time all of the coincidences and random chance make it seem as if it were supposed to happen all along. Either way I laugh a little every time I think about the story! Megan chose Harvey and we ended up choosing each other!

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We had planned on being in NYC for the 4th of July and couldn't think of a more perfect time or place.

What is your proposal story?

Megan and I woke up early, today was going to be our day and had been planning it for awhile. We were going to hit Central Park early, go to a nice brunch and a few museums. Later that night we had reservations at her favorite chef's restaurant. It was perfect but, Megan didn't know I had one more event planned! We arrived at Central Park a little before 8am and decided to check out Bethesda Fountain first. We then walked to Bow Bridge and I spot Amanda on our way up. Megan and I stop in the middle of the bridge and take in the beautiful view of NYC. We take a selfie and then I ask Amanda to take our photo with my phone. She agreed and took a picture of us. That was the cue for Amanda that I was about to drop to a knee and propose. Megan and I look back towards the city and my heart is racing and I'm stalling. Megan is starting to get hot and I know she wants to keep moving. I grab her hands and turn her perpendicular to the skyline, drop to a knee and asked her to marry me.
