Jesse & Sarafina's Proposal Story in Dubrovnik

How did you meet?

At a rave in 2013

What is your love story?

I spotted her across the dance floor, and my first thought was I’m going to marry that girl one day. That was almost 9 years ago now, and we’ve been madly in love since. We’ve been through everything together; a long distance relationship, working/ living in different cities, moving to a new city together, starting a business together and leaving our day jobs, being dog parents, surviving lockdowns, and continuing to be each other’s best friends through it all.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We landed on Croatia as one of the places we wanted to visit on our next trip, and once I saw photos of the landscape I knew it would be the perfect place.

What is your proposal story?

This was without a doubt the best day of my entire life. After years of dreaming about this day, and months and months of planning, it all came together perfectly. It was truly magical. I got a permit to rent out the chapel at park Orsula in Dubrovnik for just the two of us. And I had a private picnic set up there, with a photographer hiding in the bushes to capture the moment. This idea came to me in a dream a year or two ago, and as soon as we decided on this vacation, I got to work putting it all together. I told Sara I set up a sunset date for us the night before, and a late dinner reservation. We had a driver pick us up, and take us there. Where we walked through the park to this beautiful old dilapidated chapel overlooking the coast of Dubrovnik. I had her close her eyes once we got there, so I could get the ring and get into position. And once I told her to open her eyes, I was down on one knee. Instantly I was so overcome with emotion I broke into an ugly cry, and could barely contain myself. But I took a deep breath and got out half of the speech I had planned (even though I had practiced it literally 300 times, but at least it was the most important parts). And of course SHE SAID YES! Then our photographer Božo captured some photos of us and the indescribably beautiful scenery. And Alexandra who put the picnic together poured us some champagne after we popped the bottle, and walked us through the most incredible menu she put together. We ate and drank as we watched the sunset, and basked in the moment.

Best tip for proposing in Dubrovnik

Finding someone who could help me arrange all of this was incredible, I don’t think I could’ve put this together without them! Also because of Croatias location, the weather can change quite drastically. We were scared of the forecasted rain on the day we had selected, but as the time got closer and closer the forecast improved and the rain never came.

Develyn's Proposal Story in Dubrovnik

What is your love story?

Like many others with busy lives in this day and age, we met online. I think we both sort of had a feeling we were each others person right off the bat. We went on 4 dates in 2 days and spent as much time possible with each other. Devs first clue was the fact that I was late to our first date because I had to stop and take a photo of the sunset, which I later found out is exactly something he would do. For myself, I’ve never had someone look at me with such admiration and curiosity. He is my number one fan and biggest supporter.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We were heading off on a week long sail trip in Croatia, and I was wrestling with when I should pop the question. It was actually flytographer that really was the determining factor in the end. Bozo’s work in Dubrovnik looked fantastic, and I trusted flytographer to handle some of the more difficult organizational details of the moment. I was extremely happy with my choice in the end, what a beautiful and romantic location.

What is your proposal story?

Stephanie and I were planning our first trip overseas together and I immediately knew our trip would be the perfect opportunity to propose. I decided on Dubrovnik as the location where it would happen, arranged the photographer, and finalized the time and location. Now all I needed to do was get the beautiful ring designed at @cavaliergastown to Croatia, and convince Stephanie we needed to dress up for a “fancy dinner.” The perfect opportunity arose to sneak the ring into our day-bag while Stephanie was having a nap after our early morning flight from London. However, when she awoke she remembered she had left chocolate in the day-bag and was concerned it had melted everywhere. She got up and started pulling everything out of the bag! I immediately panicked, jumped out of bed, and ran with the bag to the kitchen exclaiming how the bag needed to be cleaned. She came chasing after me, angered that I had snatched the bag away from her. I had only a moment to grab the ring, hide it in my boxers (the only thing I was wearing during our nap), and try and manoeuvre past her as she came running into the kitchen. Somehow she didn’t notice a thing. We got down to the beach where we were meeting the photographer. I stared in amazement at the beauty of Old Town Dubrovnik and asked her “wouldn’t this be the perfect moment to propose, it’s so beautiful.” She laughed it off with a big “pfft” saying we will have to come back one day, shrugging her shoulders and looking at the view. I replied with “well maybe we won’t have to” and got down on one knee. The rest is a blur, but thankfully she said yes, but she was shaking so much in excitement getting the ring on her finger was an added challenge. The secret photographer captured the whole thing, and we have lovely photos of our special day in Croatia.

Daniel's Proposal Story in Dubrovnik

What is your love story?

Kenzie and I met formerly through a friend in college. We actually attended the same high school but never crossed paths in terms of friendship because of us being in separate niches. Once we started talking, I felt an instant connection.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Her dad lives in Germany for work, he was already flying us out to Dubrovnik for vacation. Calling him to set everything up and ask for his blessing made for some of the most nerve-racking moments in my entire life.

What is your proposal story?

Once I made the decision I was going to pop the question, I was able to comb through her social media for what I thought would be the perfect scene to ask the question. It was easy finding what kind of ring she wanted because her Pinterest was chalk full of the same style ring. I initially thought finding a photographer was going to be the biggest challenge, but I work in news and stumbled across a story about Flytographer. After a quick Google search, a few messages with my concierge and a video chat everything was set up and ready to go.  After exploring Dubrovnik it was time for the big moment. Her dad and I formulated the excuse to head back to where we were staying so I could encourage her to change before we went out and “watched the sunset.” Little did she know it was going to be much more than that. She was slightly curious as to why I asked her to brush her hair as it’s something I never do. Once we arrived at the location, my photographer was standing by, blending in with the other tourists. We looked out toward the port and the old castle wall, then I got down on my knee, fought through the rush of adrenaline, and asked her to be mine forever.
