Meet Ellie in Florence

I am Texas born and raised, though my heart and life is in Florence, Italy. I am passionate about embracing life wholeheartedly, finding reasons to laugh, and pursuing creativity and authenticity. From street photography in Brooklyn to documenting quarantine time in Florence, I enjoy becoming immersed in an environment and capturing life. With a studio art background, I love seeking out color palettes, interesting lighting/textures/compositions and finding the beauty within the mundane. I love allowing a shoot to transform into what it needs to be, letting the moment be fluid and genuine, and truly capturing a moment in time. My hope is to convey the essence of the people I am photographing and use my camera to translate their unique qualities and aspects of their relationships that make them, them!

    Favourite Place to Shoot: The Oltrarno tends to be less crowded, and more "off the beaten path" (plus it has some of my favorite cafes and gelaterias, so I am never opposed to a pit stop).

Three Things

  1. I love to explore the city and its surrounding jewels. Almost nothing brings me more joy than spending a Saturday going to a local market and seeing the work and produce of local artisans/vendors. Whether it’s a vintage store, flea market, or antique shop, I also love hunting for unique pieces of clothing and decor, just waiting to live another life. And of course, being in the epicenter of the Renaissance, I am never opposed to going to a museum or wandering into a historic church or garden. If I’m feeling more adventurous, I love exploring the outdoors, biking, rock climbing, etc. If it’s more of a rainy day, you’ll find me working with my hands, sewing, drawing or painting. On a Friday evening, I love any outdoor live music and sharing an aperitivo followed by a long dinner with my friends. Enjoying the daily joys of life!
  2. I cannot live without my morning coffee (admittedly also usually my afternoon macchiato).
  3. I once decided to do stand up comedy in Austin, TX. In case you were wondering, yes - it was a disaster. I haven’t decided if I did this to make a fool of myself or simply to have a fun fact, but, hey, look now!

More Information

Ellie is sometimes also available for shoots in the Tuscany area. Please note that Ellie is only available for a minimum of 90-minute sessions outside of Florence.

Ellie was simply wonderful! She did an excellent job engaging with our two young boys and captured our family perfectly in this busy, active stage of life. Some of our favorite shots are the ones we never saw coming: our son running "like Sonic" so fast that he lost his shoe, and our 2-year-old getting taken out by the uneven cobblestone streets. That one was a comical surprise when we opened the gallery! Ellie has a real gift for catching the real, funny, unposed moments that make a family who they are. These photos are a treasure we'll look back on (and laugh at) for years. We'd recommend her to anyone without hesitation!

We spent a wonderful morning with Ellie at the Ponte Vecchio and Duomo. She made us feel very comfortable and captured us naturally. We are obsessed with our photos. Best souvenir ever!
