Our Honeymoon in Sorrento

Route: Sorrento Village, Sorrento, Italy
Travel Story
We got married in September and chose the Bay of Naples, based in Sorrento and Ischia, for our Honeymoon. We were attracted by the amazing food and rich history that can be found there. Our favourite memories there are probably the relaxed week we spent in the spa's and relaxed culture of Ischia. Our photographer, Claudio, was fantastic and really captured the feel of the area.
Travel Tips
Of course, if you are visiting the Naples area, you must visit the famous archaeological digs at Pompeii and Herculaneum. Following these, visit the museum in Naples that has all the preserved treasures from both sites. Sorrento is a food and shopping haven, interesting leather shops, limoncello and lots and lots of gelato. We tried many of the restaurants in the area, in the centre we particularly liked Blu Water and Ristorante Zi'Ntonio (need to book). Our hotel was a little outside the centre, our local favourites became Il Ruttino and Ristorante Moonlight. Capri is an interesting place to explore. Most go for the instagram ready Blue Grotto, however it is 50/50 if it will be open due to sea conditions. Either way, the island is both beautiful and a shopping haven so we really didn't miss not seeing that particular wonder. It is well worth going up the chair lift to the highest point, on a clear day the view is fantastic. We would suggest having a guide though with free time. The shops are amazing, check out the Capri watches and perfumes. Ischia in comparison is a breath of fresh air. Much more of a village feel and exactly what is needed after the hustle and bustle of the rest of the bay. Stunning geothermal spas and excellent food. We would particularly recommend staying at the Botania Relais and Spa, we would recommend the on site Green Michelin Stared Ristorante Il Mirto. Also take a look at the Limoncello Distillery in Ischia Porto.
