Travel Story

My husband and I met while we were chefs working in the same restaurant. Needless to say, we both love food and of course wine. After we got married we knew we wanted to go to Italy for our honeymoon. We planned a wonderful itinerary that surrounded food, drink, and cultural experiences. Let's be honest, it was mostly the food and drink that we were into. We began the trip and Rome, and it's big bustle-y old feel was perfect. I think one of my favourite experiences in Rome was the morning of our shoot, having an amazing coffee and pastry, and then walking through the empty streets of the city on a Sunday morning.

Travel Tips

Viva in the Spanish Steps area is a little modern restaurant we happened upon and had our best meal experience in Rome there. The bartender was friendly and very skilled. The cacio e pepe was the best of the trip, and just a delightful time. La Vita e un Mozzico, also in the Spanish Steps area is a must-do. It's a tiny sandwich shop that totally intimidated us as english speakers but we stumbled through and ordered Porchetta sandwiches and oh... my... goodness... Best Sandwich of my Life. St. Peters Basilica- Go early! It opened at 7 AM when we were there. We entered at 8:30 and listened to a Rick Steves free audio guide and it's free to enter. Best sight of Rome for us. It's absolutely amazing.
