Travel Story

Not a lot of things happen unplanned in our world, our annual food and wine journeys in France are organized down to a tee. Yet no matter how little we expect to be surprised, there's always a creamier scoop of passionfruit ice cream or a more decadent piece of seared foie gras around the corner. I'm convinced autumn is not only the best season to experience French gastronomy, but also the most breathtaking time to wander aimlessly. If I close my eyes right now, I can still feel the fall foliage shuffling between our steps.

Travel Tips

A good brasserie is the best jet lag cure! We alway book a direct flight from SFO that gets us to Paris by breakfast. Our first day just becomes a never-ending picnic through Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Last time we went to Aux Prés where we found our favorite plate of sweetbreads; after that we walked to Jean-Charles Rochoux for some dark truffles and Jacques Genin for the most addicting caramels, and eventually made our way to La Grande Épicerie de Paris to shop for a gourmet dinner.
