Travel Story

This trip was for our 15th anniversary. We started in Garmisch, went onto Munich then ended in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We have German heritage so we thought it would be great to experience the culture and history along with the food and the beer! We loved Rothenburg for the small town feel and the night watchman tour. We loved Garmisch for the mountains, snow and the nearby castles. Munich was fun for the city feel, riding the subway and the Marienplatz. We got to see a lot in our 10 days! Our photographer Gloria was great and really gave us wonderful gift in these photos.

Travel Tips

We loved the Hofbrauhaus, even though it was very touristy. But the outdoor markets (viktualienmarkt) in the Marienplazt were our favorite. Huge variety of local food vendors daily! In Garmisch we loved Fischers-Mohrenplatz for schnitzel, and ate at Peperoncini Italian Cafe for our anniversary. And in Rothenburg we went off the german food and ate at Vito's and had amazing Italian. In Garmisch you must visit the Neuschwanstein castle, which is about an hour away. In Munich, we enjoyed the BMW musuem, the Marienplatz, riding the subway and walking around the train station, the Hauptbanhof. In Rothenburg, the night watchman tour is a must but its only on Saturday evenings at 8pm. We walked the entire city wall early one morning, which was about 3.5 miles and took 2 hours. It was beautiful and a cool part of the town history.
