Honeymoon in Lisbon!
Route: Portas do Sol Square and the streets of Alfama, Lisbon, Portugal
While we were planning on honeymoon, everyone kept suggesting Italy or Greece. Both of those seem beautiful and amazing, but we wanted something a bit more unique - which is how we landed on Portugal! It was my first trip abroad and I'm so glad we picked Porto and Lisbon! The people couldn't have been nicer, the food was delicious and the sights were fantastic! We loved just wandering around Alfama and trying different types of Portuguese dishes - my husband loved the sardines, but they're not for me!
We both love food and my husband loves finding the *best* of something everywhere we go (i.e., the best pizza in NYC, the best barbecue in Kansas City, etc.) so we did the same thing with Pastel de Nata. Honestly, we couldn't pick a favorite between Pastéis de Belém and Manteigaria. They're both so good! We ate dinner one night at Salá de Joáo Sá and it was so good! I think their menu is seasonal so if the pork and clams bao is on the menu, get it. You won't be disappointed! If you have the time, take a day trip out to Sintra to visit the Pena Palace. It was worth the subway, train and bus rides it took to get there and back. The colors are indescribable and views are spectacular!
