Travel Story
Our kids are water babies and we were long overdue for a beach vacation! We wanted to go somewhere where we could swim in warm water and our kids could experience seeing tropical fish, turtles and birdlife. This trip was magical in so many ways. The time away from our careers and everyday obligations gave us the opportunity to relax and reconnect with each other. It was much needed.. and we have since printed these photos for our walls as a reminder of how we need to slow down and savour every minute as a family. The years when your kids are toddlers fly by and I am so grateful we were able to capture this beautiful moment in time.
Travel Tips
We absolutely loved the Fairmont Orchid. They have this tiny protected beach where the kids could play, watch the turtles and not get swamped by waves. This meant that Sean and I could relax a bit and give them a bit of freedom. The hotel also had some pretty sweet lawn games we took advantage of. The nearby Mauna Lani Historic Park is a great destination within 15 min walk of the hotel. The kids were mesmerized by the petroglyphs and lava tubes. What a dramatic landscape!
