Travel Story
Raphael and I met early in 2017 and decided by summer that we wanted to take an international trip together in the fall. Because we’re a little crazy like that. And I love it. We both love to travel, and Colombia was at the top of both of our travel destination lists. With 8 days to spend there, we debated seeing more than one city but ultimately settled on spending the entire time in Cartagena. Though we can’t wait to go back and see more of Colombia, we have no regrets over spending so much time in the beautiful city on the water. Our favorite experiences were anything involving food and music, which is how most of our time was spent! The flowers, the people, every single corner of every single street... it's a magical place.
Travel Tips
Don't miss Castillo San Felipe de Barajas and be sure to do the audio tour! It is amazing history that taught us so much about the city. We tried a lot of ceviche, but our absolute favorite was at a little place in Getsemani called Malgana. Sit on the tiny rooftop and go during sangria happy hour! La Mulata was our favorite lunch spot in the city, and Don Juan was the best fancy dinner! Most of all, do not miss Cafe Havana - email them to reserve a table for free ahead of time - and, if you want to party with locals, La Movida. Finally, be sure to eat ALL of the street arepas!!
