Keisha's Travel Tips for Washington DC

What are the best places to eat and drink in Washington DC?

“Call Your Mother Deli” (they close at 2pm) in close proximity to cute row houses. And delish bagels! M St and Wisconsin Ave is so chic and quaint for shopping. I loved Georgetown!

What are the best things to do in Washington DC?

Besides Georgetown, Adams Morgan is also really cool and artsy. The Martin Luther King memorial and Lincoln Memorial were amazing to view up close! The architecture is quiet awe inspiring.

What is your best travel tip for Washington DC?

Pay attention to parking! A lot of meters. The earlier you can plan your tours and select spots to see the better. Even in a pandemic slowing things are busy in D.C. by late morning.

Jessica's Travel Tips for Washington DC

What are the best places to eat and drink in Washington DC?

The wharf area is such an easy place to find quick food with options for anyone. The s’mores food truck is so fun! Founding Farmers is a great spot for an early family dinner or for a date night or dinner with friends. Everything is so fresh and there are so many options!

What are the best things to do in Washington DC?

The Decadence afternoon tea (really desserts!) at the St Regis is so memorable. It’s also a great spot for a drink if you’re not in the mood for anything sweet. Enjoy the garden behind the Smithsonian Castle for some quiet nature or a nice picnic spot (there are shaded tables!)

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Washington DC?

DC is such a great place to bring kids! With free museums, you can pop in and out. There’s so much to see as you walk, and green space all over for running off energy. Lightweight travel items like a GB Pockit stroller and the ride safer vest make it so easy to get around quickly with small kids.

What are the best places to eat and drink in Washington DC?

The Hay-Adams hotel not only has a fantastic restaurant with views of Lafayette Square, The White House and Black Lives Matter Plaza, it also has a fabulous basement bar well worth a visit. The atmosphere in both is so different and both have vibes of bygone days. The staff, as always, treat you like royalty.

What are the best places to eat and drink in Washington DC?

After I proposed we had dinner at The Prime Rib, it was very good! I would also highly recommend the Unconventional Dinner. We stayed one night at the Eaton DC which was a very cool hipster modern new hotel and then 2 nights at the Trump International Hotel which was very very upscale.

What are the best things to do in Washington DC?

Seeing the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier was amazing. Definitely have to see the major monuments in person, the e-bike tour we did was AWESOME! It was located right next to the Spy museum. The Enid A Haupt garden was a must see as well if traveling during the spring time. Check Groupon for affordable couple massages, that was a nice bonus we did. Utilize some of the scooters around town, makes for a fun trip and can really save your feet.

Washington DC is immensely walkable. Get out there and take a look around as you're walking from museum to museum or to a monument. There's always something new to see and do, all you have to do is keep your eyes open!

Ana Helena's Travel Tips for Washington DC

What is your best overall travel tip for Washington DC?

The Mall and monuments are a must go! The sunset from the Lincoln Memorial or the rooftop of the Kennedy Center are both amazing! The best museum, for me, is the Newseum (and one that a lot of people don't visit because is one of the private ones), but I do love all the Smithsonian ones. If you are visiting during the summer, check out the Jazz in the Garden, every Friday at the National Gallery Sculpture Garden. One of my favorite restaurants is Rose's Luxury. Its worth the wait and deserves all the hype!
