Mariposa! But make a reservation months in advance it fills up quick! Delicious food and an amazing experience for a fancy evening.

What are the best things to do in Sedona?

We loved the hiking (as we always do)! Devil’s Bridge is fun but also very busy and taking a day trip to the Grand Canyon is a must! Get a head start on hiking, everyone shows up at the trails at 9 AM but if you get there at 7 AM there is nobody there.

What is the best tip for going on your honeymoon to Sedona?

If you want to be alone and enjoy time together, get up early! If you get up at 6 and start a hike at 7 for then brunch at 10, you will miss everyone else doing the same thing by 2 hours! This helped up avoid the crazy traffic and be able to do more activities instead of waiting in a car for a table or parking spot.

What are the best places to eat and drink in Sedona?

The food in Sedona is incredible! We had a wonderful dinner at Mole. They make everything in house, even their tortilla chips. Try the prickly pear margarita, enchiladas, and homemade churros! Our favorite meal was at Cress at Oak Creek. It was a romantic setting with outstanding service and scrumptious food. The corn chowder was amazing! If you like wine, we highly recommend the wine pairing with the tasting menu. It was so peaceful listening to the creek while we enjoyed our meal. And they even had a violinist playing music the entire dinner! We were excited to walk in to lunch at Mariposa Latin Grill. The view is spectacular! If you can go during the day, you can take in the view of the red rocks while you dine. I had never had yuca before but the yuca fries were excellent!

What are the best things to do in Sedona?

We were so happy to go hiking in Sedona. Our favorite hike was Devils Bridge. We got there before 6 am and did the hike. We did get a parking spot too! We got to the bridge a little after sunrise. The way the light hit the mountains was so beautiful! People are so kind and take photos for you when you’re on the bridge. We heard it gets very busy the later it gets, so try to go early. The free shuttles are awesome so you don’t have to worry about parking. We took the shuttles to Soldiers Pass TH and Cathedral Rock TH. Both of these hikes had incredible views. It’s pretty steep to get to the top of Cathedral rock but so worth it! If you’re feeling adventurous, the hike to Keyhole Cave was great! Definitely get the Alltrails app so you can find the trail.

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Sedona?

Book a flytographer session! We love doing a flytographer session each year for our anniversary. The photographers are all so talented and we get epic photos! It’s always a fun experience too and a great date! We stayed at The Wilde Resort. One of our favorite features was the amenities at the resort. The spa provided us with complimentary robes, beverages, hot tubs, and steam rooms. The relaxation room was a peaceful way to unwind after our morning hikes. When we made our dinner reservation at Cress at Oak Creek, we told them it was to celebrate our anniversary. Everyone who we met wished us happy anniversary and we even got a complimentary toast with champagne. It made us feel so special!

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Sedona?

Invest in the proper hiking gear for Sedona. We are avid east coast hikers, but the rocks and landscape of Sedona were totally new, and we were so glad we had the proper shoes and clothes. This is super random, but there is a Whole Foods in the middle of town, which was clutch for our kids when we needed a quick, easy and healthy bite on the go. The time change was hard on our 3 year old.

We loved the GyPSy app's tour of Sedona - it was fun learning the history and finding spots to explore based on the guides suggestion. Hiking around Chimney Rock was wonderful - not too crowded, and just challenging enough that my kids had fun without it being too hard. My boys also loved the Jeep tours - bumpy, exhilarating and gorgeous scenery!

Make reservations for dinner if you're traveling during the busy season, but otherwise be flexible with plans, and include your kids in the decision making process. They enjoyed our hikes and excursions more because I asked for their input on which ones we should do.
