Mönchsberg: The green city hike

Admire the beautiful city of Salzburg from unique vantage points and marvel at fairytale-like architecture as you stroll through family-friendly walking trails. Start at the lovely Müllner Schanze Spielplatz playground and follow the route towards the majestic Fortress Hohensalzburg. As you walk on top of the verdant Mönchsberg hill, you'll uncover spectacular views of the inner city, Salzburg’s Cathedral, and Augustiner Pforte. The best time for the walk is in the morning when the sun beams over the path. Sunsets, however, are not ideal since the mountains cover the light. Note: to better enjoy the route and capture the best photos, we suggest you book at least a 60-minute session. This route is not suitable for people with walking difficulties or baby strollers.
