ChouxChoux Cafe had a delicious Brioche French Toast for breakfast. It’s a beautiful spot with lush greenery surrounding it, swings on the outdoor patio, and there 2 gorgeous murals on the outside of the restaurant, one of which is 3 stories tall!
The street art on Calle 10 and Calle 20 is not to be missed. Literally blocks and blocks of stunning murals make it a true feast for the eyes.
Playa is larger than I expected, so my recommendation would be to plan on spending at least 2 days in the area. One for shopping and sightseeing, and one for enjoying the beach. For a special birthday treat, head over to Amorino for a rose shaped gelato cone topped with a macaroon.

Cenote Maya gives you the opportunity for rappelling into the gorgeous cenote to enjoy the refreshing water. Coupled with a trip to explore at Ek Balam to climb El Torre is an absolute must (even preferred over Chichen Itza)!

I booked Playa Del Carmen mainly for the hotel. For excursions I highly recommend visiting the ruins, especially the Chichen Itza. I also did a day trip to Cozumel, which was awesome.

It's so easy to fly out to the Yucatan and spend all your time out on the beach. Don't get me wrong - it's easy to see why between the sugar soft sand and the azure blue water, but the inner Yucatan is so full of adventure! There are AMAZING ruins like Chichen Itza and Coba just hiding in all that dense jungle waiting for you to discover!
