Caitlin's Travel Tips for Paris

What are the best places to eat and drink in Paris?

Les Cocottes by Christian Constant was a cute and delicious little restaurant we found one night.

What are the best things to do in Paris?

Musée de l'Orangerie is my favourite museum in Paris! The floor to ceiling Monet Water Lilies are incredible. Musée Marmottan Monet was also a wonderful one.

What is the best tip for a romantic getaway in Paris?

Early morning walks along the Seine are wonderful, of course! It also felt quite romantic to walk along the streets in the evening and pick a little restaurant based on what caught your eye in the moment, rather than strictly following reservations.

What are the best places to eat and drink in Paris?

Eventhough it is very touristy, we love Angelina. We went there after our photoshoot since it was early and it was empty and it is a very parisian experience.

What are the best things to do in Paris?

Having ice cream in the park, getting into carrousels and just walking without any plans. Paris is a city to be enjoyed, to see, to live this slow life.

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Paris?

Don't plan too much! Have one scheduled activity or two at most per day. If they are young I'd leave out all the big museums (you'll have to come back when they appreciate it) because even if they like art, they get super tired. If they like to day, carry a notepad and some small colors to draw what they are seeing on the street or the park. Is a great way for them to understand what is different from where they are from. Try to go to the Eiffel Tower around 6-7pm during the summer. It is not as hot and less crowded than earlier and later. Eat all the butter croissants you can!! We looove them. Buy online a SIM card for your phone, they are quite cheap and you have data and phone access. And buy the Paris metro pass. It works also for public transport and if the kids are tired you can grab a lot of busses. Google maps lets you know where to grab it, when it will be there and what are the options to get everywhere.

Anywhere with a view- Paris is meant to be seen!

What are the best things to do in Paris?

Palais Royal and the Jardin des Tuileries. We loved just strolling around where every single area is so photogenic and worthy of being a Postcard!

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Paris?

Bring a small stroller! Being from America, everything is bigger- strollers included. We had difficulty navigating cafes and shops with this said. We are planning our next visit shortly and have a new infant in tow. This time, we plan to bring the convertible carseat/stroller combo in a much more compact size. Bonus- it'll be great for all the taxis considering how vast Paris can feel. Aside from that, my tip is- Don't be nervous! Traveling with kids in Paris is an absolute joy and the locals were so willing to help and accommodate.

What is the best tip for a romantic getaway in Paris?

For traveling to paris first time, of course we would check out all the landmarks and main attractions, however the best part of our trip to Paris, we dedicated 2 days to just wander around, and we discovered so many new neighborhoods that were not featured online, they were so magical and cute. My biggest tip is to just dedicate a day or 2 to just wander and enjoy the cities without any strict timeline. Paris is a really magical city!!

What are the best things to do in Paris?

My favorite activity was simply taking in the sights, practicing my french with the locals, trying the food and really admiring all the differences and nuances Paris has in comparison to the US.

What is the best tip for celebrating your birthday in Paris?

A major tip would be to wear walking shoes, don't even pack shoes that you haven't walked in comfortably before. I know you think that being in the fashion capital means you have to pack all of your best outfits and shoes but trust me, you're going to want to walk around and sight see. You can still look your best with comfortable walking shoes and most of the Parisians I saw were laid back and effortlessly beautiful anyway.

Sally's Travel Tips for Paris

What are the best places to eat and drink in Paris?

Our favorite meal with our crew of six was to grab baguettes at a boulangerie, cheese, fruits, and drinks from the grocery store, and have a picnic - outside at a park or in the hotel room.

What are the best things to do in Paris?

We did a kids' treasure hunt at the Louvre through Paris Muse, and I highly recommend it! We also made the trek to Versailles, and it is worth it if you have a couple of extra days. Also, Montmartre was a crowd favorite - make sure you hit up Place du Tertre!

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Paris?

If you are traveling with a toddler, consider bringing a carrier. We carried our 22 month old in an Osprey carrier, and while it felt a little bulky at times, it was way better for us than navigating a stroller on cobblestone or expecting our toddler to hit 15,000 steps each day. The boats at Jardin de Luxembourg were a huge hit for our kids, too! We also appoint battle buddies so each kid knows which adult they are with - especially important in large crowds or at the metro. Fantastic place to go with kids!
