Nicole's Travel Tips for Lisbon

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

Take a wine and tile class! We got to see how they make tiles and make our own, which was so cool and unique!

What is the best tip for a romantic getaway in Lisbon?

The biggest tip I have is to get up early one or two days and go experience the Alfama neighborhood before the crowds of tourists get there. We had our photoshoot with Ana around sunrise and, after that, we chose to walk around the neighborhood and take in the sights. We got to see so many monuments with no one around except us. It was magical and moving to see these old places without a million people crowding the street.

Ariel's Travel Tips for Lisbon

What are the best places to eat and drink in Lisbon?

Cervejaria Ramiro - incredible seafood - this place is an institution - and don’t sleep on the steak sandwich! Ponto Final - technically across the bridge in Almada, spectacular sunset views with the bridge in the background and amazing food! They even provided us with blankets when the temperatures dropped. Monkfish stew was out of this world.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

Restaurants above, tuk tuk tour, pasteis de nata cooking class, day trip to Sintra and Cascais

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Lisbon?

The cooking class was a great way for them to slow down and keep busy - plus it was SO delicious. The loved learning about the possible Knights Templar connection to Quinta da Regaleira, and the tuk tuk tour was a blast - they loved the bumpy and speedy ride around Alfama. Finally - we stayed at a wonderful apartment that had comfortable beds for all… so no fighting over who stole the comforter or who kicked whom in their sleep!;)

Stephen's Travel Tips for Lisbon

What are the best places to eat and drink in Lisbon?

By The Wine was absolutely delicious (octopus!) and a great way to sample a lot of different Portuguese wines (and you can buy a bottle to take home at a very nice price). Make a reservation beforehand and not a place for children, in my opinion. Time Out Market is a nice way to sample it all (come hungry!).

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

The aquarium (oceanarium) was a highlight. Book online in advance and get the 10am time slot, right when they open, to get the aquarium to yourself! At a reasonable pace, it can be done in 60-90 minutes and was great for the whole family! Book a combined ticket for the Cable Car right next door for great views!

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Lisbon?

We stayed at Martinhal Lisbon Chiado Family Suites and it was heaven. Downstairs "Kids Club" provides day care if needed and they concierge can arrange baby-sitters. We were very happy with that service (inexpensive, trust-worthy, convenient). Breakfast is great and also kid friendly. Really made the trip special - like we lived there!

Melanie's Travel Tips for Lisbon

What are the best places to eat and drink in Lisbon?

We love the Time Out Market for a range of food and drinks from the best chefs and restaurants in Lisbon. Culinary Backstreets has an awesome food tour that we did on our last trip to Lisbon which I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

Every visit of ours to Lisbon has to include early morning walks at Parque Eduardo VII and a coffee break at the kiosk in Praca do Camoes. Hop on over to Manteigaria in Chiado when you hear the bells ring and get yourself a warm, freshly baked pasteis to enjoy with your coffee. For tours - book with We Hate Tourism Tours. They are fabulous and give you a feel and taste of the city unlike other sightseeing companies

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Lisbon?

We booked our anniversary dinner at O Ramiro three months earlier. You need to to ensure a table at this super popular seafood restaurant.
