Shipwreck Beach on Kauai’s sunny South Shore is a wild and dramatic stretch of coastline that lives up to its evocative name. Framed by golden sand dunes, crashing surf, and the striking Makawehi Lithified Cliffs that rise at the eastern end of the beach, this is one of the most visually striking locations on the island. The open, unshaded setting means the light here is everything, and at sunrise or sunset the whole scene glows in the most extraordinary way. Travel fees apply for this location. This route is only recommended for sunrise or sunset sessions. Shooting at other times can result in unflattering shadows on faces and harsh lighting, as this area is not shaded.
