Molly's Travel Tips for Dubrovnik

What are the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik?

We loved having a healthy, fresh breakfast and coffee at Refresh - the food was great and the ambiance of being right by the Jesuit stairs was pretty cool. ARKA Dubrovnik was an amazing place for some authentic Dalmatian cuisine and enchanting atmosphere.

What are the best things to do in Dubrovnik?

Loved walking the walls of Old Town, lounging at Banje Beach with iconic Dubrovnik views all around, breakfast at Refresh and gelato at Peppinos! The hike up to Mt Srd was amazing - well worth it and a great way to save some money and get some epic views!

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Dubrovnik?

No kids, sorry!!

Monica's Travel Tips for Dubrovnik

What are the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik?

Our favorite bar was one of the cliff bars off the walls of the old city! This was a unique spot to lay out in the sun, have some beers and cliff jump into the sea. There is nothing like it anywhere else we have been and it was amazing. If cliff jumping isn't your thing, check our "The Bar" located in the Old City. Great atmosphere in an alley and awesome cocktails.

What are the best things to do in Dubrovnik?

While touristy, you have to walk the walls of the old city. But take your time doing it and if you can go either before or after the cruise ships are there, it is quiet and you can enjoy drinks in the cafe's/bars along the way. If you are lucky enough to be there around sunset, it is one of the best sunsets you will see!

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Dubrovnik?

Plan a day with no plan! Walk the city, check out the shops and enjoy it. There are some great food and wine tours that are offered by independent people that can be booked though sites like AirBnB. Book one of those rather than the big tour groups that all of the cruisers are going on. You will have a much more personal experience.

What are the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik?

Nautika was absolutely amazing! It's just outside the Old Town and the views cannot be beat! We loved all of the courses and the service was top notch! What a romantic place for a sunset dinner!

What are the best things to do in Dubrovnik?

We highly recommend the Old Town Food Tour by Dubrovnik Food Tours! Goran was such a pleasure to get to know! He makes you feel like you've know him for years! The food was so delicious and it was awesome getting to know so many people during our tour. We even went out together afterwards! Do this tour, you won't regret it!

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Dubrovnik?

I would recommend doing a Flytography shoot to remember the trip! Also, book lots of tours so you can see the city and experience the food and culture. Oh! And go during the off season if you can. It gets extremely crowded.

Crystal's Travel Tips for Dubrovnik

What are the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik?

We love Aroma gelato. Marco Polo was delicious.

What are the best things to do in Dubrovnik?

We loved that our photos kind of forced us to get up and out early. It was so incredible to see the city without the crowds. Even after our photos we wandered around and saw so many of the top sights sans people. Walking the walls is a must do even with kids - just go early as it gets hot! We also enjoyed the fort and Banje Beach was great with the kids.

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Dubrovnik?

We spent the mornings and evenings exploring the city and spent mid-day back at our hotel. This was a great apporach with the kids and minimzed our time in the city with peak crowds and heat. When the kids get cranky - GELATO! - it fixes everything ;)

What is your best overall travel tip for Dubrovnik?

Stay outside the walls and go to the beaches that are a little out of the way- you’ll have a more local experience and the beaches will be more pristine and quieter. Drink wine and eat squid anywhere you can! It’s all amazing.

Tour the City Walls first thing in the morning to beat the heat! The views of the Old Town, the terracotta rooftops and the Adriatic Sea are breathtaking. Spend the afternoon cooling off at Banje Beach, before taking the cable car up to Mount Srdj to have dinner and watch the sunset. Make sure to book reservations in advance!

What is your best overall travel tip for Dubrovnik?

I would suggest coming no later than the 2nd week of April if you're not a fan of crowds. Old Town takes in about 6,000 tourists everyday from crew ships alone from the 3rd week of April through the 2nd week of October.

Taylor's Travel Tips for Dubrovnik

What is your best overall travel tip for Dubrovnik?

Definitely trust your photographer's recommendation on timing and location. Bozo suggested that we get our photos taken very early in the morning and we are so glad we did. The city was packed with tourists just a few hours later and couldn't believe we were able to capture so many pictures in the best places without anyone around.

What is your best overall travel tip for Dubrovnik?

Our favorite place for some coffee and nice view was Panorama at the top of the mountain. There's a cable car that goes straight to the top and the view was absolutely incredible. It's best to go early in the morning before most of the crowd gets out and about.
