Often overlooked by visitors who head straight to Clifton or Camps Bay, Maidens Cove is the quiet gem of the Atlantic seaboard and one of Cape Town's most beloved sunrise locations. Sheltered between Clifton and the rocks of the Twelve Apostles, this small, serene cove catches the early morning light in a way that turns the whole scene golden, the calm tidal pool and surrounding boulders glowing while the rest of the city is still waking up. At low tide the rock pools teem with marine life, and the natural framing of the cove, boulders, and mountain behind makes for some of the most effortlessly beautiful compositions on the Cape Peninsula. It's a favourite of local photographers for good reason, and early morning here, with mist still sitting on the mountain and the light just starting to warm up, is one of those Cape Town moments that stays with you long after you've left. *Please note that the weather, especially the wind, can be unpredictable in Cape Town. Please be aware of this ahead of time and bring a hair tie!
