Marianne's Travel Tips for Buenos Aires

What is your best overall travel tip for Buenos Aires?

Buenos Aires and Argentina are incredibly kid-friendly! We always felt like he was included and respected. The only thing that's a bit tricky, is that Argentines eat dinner LATE, as in most restaurants don't OPEN before 9 pm! But if you're OK with lighter fare, cafes are usually open until 9 or 10 pm and serve sandwiches, salads and usually a few warm dishes, not to mention pastries.

Head to Palermo for the hippest spots in the city: food and bars. We also loved iLatina and Chila for their amazing tasting menus. There is a lot to learn about the historical aspects of the city and country, so we really recommend doing a walking tour!

What is your best overall travel tip for Buenos Aires?

Definitely go to Nuestro Secreto! It's a hidden restaurant on the roof of the Four Seasons, is extremely reasonably priced, and the food and service both are amazing. Also go to the local bookstores and just wander! One last tip would be to make sure you hit up the markets on the weekends; we did, but didn't realize it would be our only shot.

Ask locals. There are many great guidebooks and resources on where to go and what to see in Buenos Aires, but some of our most helpful tips and recommendations came from locals that we met through Flytographer, cooking classes taught by portenos, tours and beyond.

Alex's Travel Tips for Buenos Aires

What is your best overall travel tip for Buenos Aires?

This is truly the "Paris of South America" - the architecture is gorgeous, the food is unbelievable, and the people are incredibly kind. Unlike Paris, and most of Europe, English is not as frequently or well spoken in some areas. Be prepared to know at least general phrases in Spanish or have someone in your party who does know the language well. Also, the country can be very affordable...if you stay in the right areas. Recoleta is a gorgeous, sophisticated area to stay in, but I would recommend venturing outside of it for meals and shopping for better prices for travelers on a budget.
