Meet Jessica K. in Lisbon

Your comfort in front of the camera is as important to me as documenting you looking your best. I'm always looking for charming local details, gorgeous light, and interesting elements of design to incorporate into my photographs. I feel accomplished when both my clients and I have fun creating beautiful photographs together. I tend to laugh a lot and I hope you will too! I earned a Bachelor's degree in Photography from SCAD and have been a professional photographer for nearly the past 2 decades. In 2022 I started a new life adventure and moved by myself from Seattle, Washington to Portugal!

Favourite Place to Shoot: I love photographing around the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. It's a classically Portuguese-looking park with panoramic views of the city, plus it is a short walk to some very fun decorative tile spots that capture the heart of Lisbon's architecture.

Three Things

  1. My superpower is capturing genuine connections between couples and families who think they're 'not photogenic’ by documenting authentic moments. My photoshoots feel more like a relaxed conversation. My friends and clients tell me I have a knack for making people feel very comfortable. Strangers even tell me their life stories.
  2. I am a huge foodie and love exploring the food scene in Lisbon. My favorite restaurants include Oven Lisboa (Indian/Nepalese), Mezze (Syrian), Lupita (pizza), Rumi Lisboa (Mediterranean), Heim Cafe (brunch) and Do Beco (brunch). For a sweet treat, Bike Bakery has one of my favorite cinnamon rolls I've ever eaten and Nannarella has next level ice cream.
  3. One thing not to miss while visiting Portugal is a day trip to Sintra. The Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira are gorgeous, including the gardens. Piriquita bakery and Fábrica da Nata (best pastel de nata around) in the old town of Sintra are my absolute favorites for traditional Portuguese treats.

I met Jessica two years ago while I was in Portugal on a solo trip and booked a photoshoot with her. It was such a wonderful experience that I knew if I ever came back to Lisbon, I would definitely book another session with her. This time I came with my family and, needless to say, the photos turned out beautifully! Her attention to detail is impeccable. She knows all the best spots and has an incredible eye for capturing stunning compositions, always paying close attention to the light, the background, and the breathtaking views. She makes sure you not only have an amazing experience, but also leave with photographs you will treasure for years to come and that will instantly bring you back to a trip worth remembering! Thank you so much Jess!

Jessica was a joy to work with. She made us very comfortable during the session. She is very familiar with Lisbon, had a great itinerary to avoid large crowds, and knew of great spots we would never have found, or thought would turn out well in photos. She has a great eye. She also offered us great recommendations for other places we were visiting in Portugal.
