Travel Story

Life is short, make it count! For our family of three, we travel to celebrate life and love! And we knew this was going to be an unforgettable holiday for us ... We had so many reasons to celebrate: the birth of our first child, our 13 year wedding anniversary (taken on the day of the photoshoot), our first family photoshoot, and our first family travel adventure! As a photographer myself, I opted to hire a local photographer because traveling abroad with a newborn, luggage, stroller, carrier, and camera bag was a logistic nightmare. I knew with a baby in tow that there was no chance of myself being in any photos with her. Turns out, our photoshoot was one of the best decisions I ever made and that photoshoot with our Flytographer photographer, Eva, was my favourite memory of Menorca! Our top Minorcan experiences were staying in luxury at Melia Cala Galdana where we were waking up every morning to the breathtaking sea view from our balcony and strolling bare feet on the beach admiring the azure water and exploring hiking trails nearby. Equally fun was exploring the charming quiet and quaint white-washed village of Binibeca Velle. And just a stone’s throw away from there, we stood on the rocky cliffs mesmerized by the splashing waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

Travel Tips

There is something about the ocean that is therapeutic and instantly improves one’s well-being! So if you are after the most beautiful beaches in Menorca, we found it at Cala Galdana. And within walking distance from there, a smaller more private one called Cala Mitjana. I would highly recommend staying at Melia Cala Galdana for families with children. They provide baby cot beds and baby bathtubs and a baby bath kit free of charge plus fitness and entertainment for both adults and children every day of the week to keep things fun for all. The food here is really good and the four restaurants at this resort have gorgeous views of the sea with live entertainment every night at Cape Nao. If you want to do a bit of exploring, there is a small village within walking distance with lots of good restaurant options. The family suite was extra spacious (felt more like a house, not a room), beds were super comfy here, everything was spot clean, and the resort went above and beyond to accommodate us. The best city for food and beautiful interesting mix of architecture is the cobble stone old town in Ciutadella. So many restaurants with local flare, lovely ambiance, and top reviews (Es Tast, Rels Restaurant, SMOIX, Mon Restaurant) and surprisingly reasonable prices. A truly memorable dining experience was lunch in a vineyard at Restaurant Bodegas Binifadet near Sant Lluís. The setting, the food, the presentation, the atmosphere, and the service was superb! How often can you say you enjoyed a romantic lunch in a vineyard with your baby?
