A Weekend in LA

Photographer: Michelle |
Route: LACMA, Los Angeles, United States

Travel Story

My boyfriend Ben and I were gifted two tickets to The Grammy's in LA, so we packed our bags and headed to California for a long weekend! We stayed at The Montage in Beverly Hills and spent a few days exploring the area before the awards ceremony on Sunday. Rodeo Drive was gorgeous and we loved walking the streets. A few highlights from the area were window shopping on the main strip, grabbing a coffee and snacks at Alfred (the cutest coffee shop ever) and relaxing in The Montage courtyard. Outside of Beverly Hills, we took a drive to Burbank for a WB studio tour and to Venice Beach for sunset drinks and dinner. The best memory was definitely attending The Grammy's. It was such a dream! We got all glammed up and stopped by LACMA to do our Flytographer shoot before the show. Michelle was amazing to work with and was so accommodating. It ended up pouring before, during and after our shoot (the weather Gods were not our side) and it was super windy. Even though it was pretty bad out, we were able to sneak in some shots during the moments of calm and we love how they turned out! After the shoot we headed over to The Staples Center, walked the red carpet, enjoyed some amazing performances (ugh Shallow was the best--shout out to Gaga) and then had a late dinner at Craig's in West Hollywood.

Travel Tips

1. Make a reservation at Sugarfish: This place was seriously the best--we went there twice in the four days that we were in LA. If you go, get the Nozawa so that you can sample a little bit of everything. 2. Schedule a studio tour: We did the WB tour and it was so much fun. We were able to see where some of our favorite shows were filmed (hello Friends and Gilmore Girls) and there were a ton of cool tidbits and photo opps along the way. 3. Go to Venice Beach: We went to watch the sunset from the rooftop of Hotel Erwin and it was amazing. If you plan to go, make sure to make a reservation--it fills up fast! 4. Have Dinner at Craig's: If you're looking for a nice meal, check out Craig's in West Hollywood. The food and service were both incredible and if you're lucky you may just run into your favorite celeb :) 5. Give yourself an extra 30 minutes if you need to Uber somewhere! When people say the traffic in LA is bad, they're not kidding. Everything takes way longer than you think it will, so make sure to give yourself some extra time if you have somewhere to be!
