This little vacay was a self-care trip. After grieving the loss of a family member, I needed a getaway where I could be outside and enjoy the outdoors. What stood out to me the most on this trip were the locals! They are all so kind and willing to help you out just out the kindness of their hearts. After a harrowing year, it was so uplifting to experience so much compassion from people I didn't know.
Travel Tips
I'm an outdoorsy person, so most of my adventures were hikes and ocean fun. My favorite hikes were Koko head Crater (the views are WORTH IT, but it's intense), Diamondhead, and Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail. If you're staying in Waikiki, get out of Waikiki! There are so many things to do on the island, and while the resorts are beautiful and convenient, there is so much more to Oahu than just the Waikiki area. PLAN AHEAD. The pandemic has changed a lot about how the island functions when it comes to tourism, so if there are things you wanna do, sights you wanna see, do your research ahead of time!
