Besides being iconic and picturesque, these million-year-old rock formations make for great vantage points with amazing views of the desert and the mountains in the background. The much-loved Joshua trees compose the scenery with their arm-like branches, and they're not just pretty; they also serve as shelter for many birds, mammals, insects, and lizards.
