Benedict's Proposal Story in Paris

What is your love story?

We met on instagram when my beautiful fiancé randomly followed me and I said "Hey, this girl is too beautiful for me not to take my shot." So I did and here we are almost 3 years later, engaged!

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Paris is Uju's favorite city in the world so it was a no brainer.

What is your proposal story?

I purposely planned a "vacation photo shoot" 3 days into our trip to try and throw my now fiancé off the trail and make think it was a birthday trip. It had rained early that morning but the sun came up perfectly for the time for our shoot and my now fiancé was swept off her feet!

Jenna & Austin's Proposal Story in Paris

How did you meet?

School

What is your love story?

We met in high school Spanish class in Phoenix, AZ. Our teacher left half way through the year and when we had a sub they let us choose where we sat. Austin took that opportunity to sit next to me. He made me laugh regularly and the rest was history. A month after we started dating my dad's job moved my family and I to Northern California. At 15 & 16 years old we decided to continue our relationship long distance. I remember before deciding this talking to my mom about it because at 15, would long distance work? She said if it was meant to be it would, and we would never know if we didn't try. I flew to Arizona for winter break, prom, and graduation. Austin came to visit for summer break. When I graduated 2 years later I moved back to Phoenix. We have now been together for 12 years and he is my best friend. We have grown up together.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

While Austin may have been the one to plan and propose, I booked our original shoot. Over the past 4 years we have had 4 shoots. I was so excited for our next shoot to be in Paris! The photos with the Eiffel Tower look incredible and I wanted them hanging on our walls! After I booked our shoot he reached out to Flytographer and behind the scenes they switched it from a vacation shoot to a proposal shoot. I had no idea! So even if your partner is the one to book the shoot, you can still turn it into a surprise proposal!

What is your proposal story?

Our day started at about 4:30 AM. We had been in Paris for a day and a half and still hadn't adjusted to the time change. So while a 6 AM shoot sounded brutal when I booked it, it was not bad at all. (I knew the pictures would be worth it.) We started our morning listening to Taylor Swift while we got ready and started our 15 minute walk to the Bir-Hakeim Bridge. When we arrive we had a few minutes to ourselves enjoying the AMAZING view of the Eiffel Tower. When Kirill arrived he asked us a few questions and we got right to the pictures! I was so excited, we had a beautiful sunrise with a few clouds that I knew would enhance the already beautiful backdrop. I had no clue what was about to happen. About half way through the photoshoot, when the sunrise was perfect Kirill gave Austin the signal that he was ready. We were back to back and I saw him turn around from the corner of my eye. I thought to myself Oh. My. Goodness. This is actually happening. I took a deep breath before I turned around because I knew this moment would be over before I knew it. Austin was on one knee when I turned around, he quoted Taylor Swift's song "Lover" (my favorite and why he played the album while we were getting ready), and then asked me to marry him. After 12 years together of course I said yes. I was shocked and truly couldn't believe what just happened. We finished the second half of our shoot and the pure joy that is captured in those photos is magical.

Best tip for proposing in Paris

Stay on your knee for as long as you can. The earlier your shoot the better! At 6 AM there were already a handful of other photographers there. You don't want other people interfering with your photos so the earlier the better. 6AM is worth it! If you can, don't wait until the end of your photoshoot to propose. I especially love the photos we have after because of the excitement and joy they capture.

Philip & Monica's Proposal Story in Paris

How did you meet?

Work

What is your love story?

We met at work and were sitting next to each other by the computers. We began talking and realized we were interested in each other and had similar interests. I asked Monica out to dinner around Valentines Day four years ago and now we are happily engaged!

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We chose Paris because Paris is the city of love.

What is your proposal story?

I was very nervous but our photographer made me feel at ease and helped me come up with a plan to surprise Monica. We came to Europe to see Taylor Swift in Scotland and the Phillies play in the London Series. We planned a whole vacation in Europe for two weeks so I thought Paris was the perfect place to propose!

How did you meet?

Hinge

What is your love story?

Within the first month of being together I knew she was the one. She made me smile every day all day. It was always a ray of sunshine in my life and never a bad day. And luckily it’s stayed that way a year later.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I wanted something magical that she could always tell stories about.

What is your proposal story?

We scheduled a morning shoot to limit the impact of other tourists. It was colder than could be but that also helped keep the tourism down. It was a surprise. She was unaware just simply we were doing a cute Parisian photo shoot. But everyone in both our families knew so they waited in excitement.

Best tip for proposing in Paris

Weather can be a huge factor. We knew it would be cold but didn’t realize how cold. Just so happened a large storm was coming in from the Atlantic. Make sure she doesn’t know! There’s nothing more magical than seeing her eyes light up even more when you pop the question than having the lovely Eiffel Tower in the background. Set up a nice dinner too for a celebration. We went to the top of the Eiffel towers for drinks then dinner at L’Oiseau Blanc.

How did you meet?

Work

What is your love story?

Well, we meet at work he worked behind me and every time I would look back I would catch him starring at me. ( cute right) well and older coworker of ours introduced me to him but him being so in love didn't speak to me. Finally we came into work and half the staff was out sick and we didn't know that at the time so we thought we were late of a surprise meeting or something but that's when he started to talk to me as a friend. Then one day he walked me to my car and said," You know I really like someone in the office." I'm like who (not thinking it's me) but then he said it was, and he asked me on a date and I said yes .... the rest is History... Literally Paris history lol!!

Joel & Nitalia's Proposal Story in Paris

How did you meet?

School

What is your love story?

We are high school sweethearts who made it through college and long distance over the course of our relationship. I decided to propose on our 7 year anniversary.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I remember 17-year old Nitalia dreamed of going to Paris and was obsessed with Audrey Hepburn's films that were shot there. I knew for years the moment would have to include a view of the Eiffel Tower.

What is your proposal story?

Long! Our flight left Sunday evening D.C. time and landed early morning Monday morning Paris time. Nitalia wanted to take a long nap to catch up on jet lag but I had to create a fake dinner reservation so she knew we had to get dressed and be at a restaurant (or, in our case, a bridge), by a certain time. Shoutout to Red Bull for getting our energy levels up just in time.

Best tip for proposing in Paris

Trust the photographers! I originally wanted a shoot in a different area but trusted Maria's recommendation who definitely saved us from being in very packed and touristy area which would have detracted from the moment.

I have cerebral palsy that affects my memory and speech. He has autism, Asperger’s. We go to together so perfectly. Two peas in a pod. There isn’t anything he or his family wouldn’t do for me. Same with me and my family. He’s also very romantic. I really love that. I’ve never had someone treat me so special before. Like a real Prince Charming.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Paris was always a dream for me. So he made it reality. And then added proposing to me to make it even more special.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We’ve waited for this Europe trip for some time and Paris is ‘the city of love!’

What is your proposal story?

It was the date of our 4th dating anniversary and I had said I would like to take on the morning of our anniversary as a surprise date, leaving her the evening to plan for us as she’d like us to celebrate. Anxieties were definitely high THE date of, she felt I was acting weird, weirder than my typical anxious mornings and I’m not good at lying or keeping secrets so I would just react and tell her my morning surprise meant a lot to me and I wanted it to go perfectly! This seemed to keep her a bit patient with questions and I’m sure my anxieties made her feel it would be best for her to just let me be and do my thing; which was perfect for me! Right before meeting at the proposal location, I had a not so smart idea to grab coffee and a croissant which I had her rush to eat and throw out her coffee because I told her she couldn’t have anything with her for our date and we were waiting for someone who would be arriving soon. My hands were super clammy, which she ofcourse mentioned and I replied saying I was just very nervous for our surprise and to leave me alone! I saw the Flytographer, Rachael, taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower between the 5th and 6th pillar as planned, which we approached and Rachael slowly moved out of the space and away from us discreetly to continue taking pictures ‘of the Eiffel Tower’. I was super nervous and at a loss for words to bring about the perfect moment / connection to have OUR BIG moment! It’s a lot of pressure and the exact moment you can never plan for because it feels super surreal and all the planning and thoughts go out the window! But thankfully, with as much planning as I had done, I had some sentimental words come to me and I was able to take the ring out of my jacket sleeve, get on one knee (she was worried that my pants were light and the floor was wet and dirty! Haha) and open the box to ask her to marry me! I forgot to take the ring out! She put the ring on her own finger, bent over to give me a kiss and I got up to embrace her and our big moment together! I was shaking uncontrollably, as was she, she started hyperventilating and we reminded her to breathe and that the rush was normal! Wow!!! It all made sense to her in that moment! All the random weird anxious moments that led to this day! We were engaged!!! I then called over our photographer Rachael, introduced her to my now ‘fiancé’ and we went about our proposal photoshoot; which beautifully captured every sentimental moment we had that magical morning <3

Best tip for proposing in Paris

It is a wet and chilly city late in September / early October, make sure your attire works accordingly! And if wearing a hat, practice the proposal to make sure the hat won’t get in the way or block your partner throughout the proposal and photoshoot.

Giovanni & Emily's Proposal Story in Paris

How did you meet?

4th of July in New Jersey

What is your love story?

I’m so happy fate brought Emily and I together. I was visiting a beach town in New Jersey for the first time in 2015. Unbeknownst to me, she would get a summer house there with her friends the last couple of summers. I thought she was so beautiful and spent the day getting to know her. However, I left not getting her phone number. Somehow the universe brought us back together. As I posted a picture that we took together in meeting on Instagram. (Not something I would usually ever do) Coincidentally a friend of mine from college and her hometown were dating, connected them dots, and then connected us. The rest is history!

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Paris, the city of love ❤️

What is your proposal story?

Touring Paris St. Germaine during the day. Brunch at Cafe De Flore. Then some shopping. She bought new ear rings (the ones in the photos) I ordered a bottle of champagne to our room as we got ready and then we Taxi’d on over to the location. The entire taxi ride I was trying to keep things cool and act normal. While juggling remembering what I was going to say in my proposal in my head haha.

David & Anna's Proposal Story in Paris

How did you meet?

We met in the military

What is your love story?

Anna was someone who walked into a classroom for a course we both were attending and walked into my life for the first time. She captured my eye with her perfect smile and I knew then that there was something special about her. We were friends for several years before she pursued me. Best decision I ever made in my life was going tot that course. The chain of events that led up to the moment Olga captured for us on Valentine's Day wouldn't be possible if I didn't.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

She would've never guessed it being so stereotypical.

What is your proposal story?

The big day was months in the making. Anna left for a military assignment in Germany and the moment she left me at the airport, I started to plan this out. Being in Europe already, I wanted Paris to be the place to "pop the question" . After consulting with two of her closest friends, we made the magical moment happen. Not to mention her two friends coming to Paris and surprising her.

Best tip for proposing in Paris

Trust your gut and never question when or where. If it's right in your head (and with some help from friends) it all falls together in the moment

Berkeley & Amy's Proposal Story in Paris

How did you meet?

Friends/Family

What is your love story?

Amy and I have had an effortless relationship from the beginning. We met three years ago over brunch set up by some friends. We were both looking to remarry after divorces and were taking things slowly. Our chemistry was undeniable and our energy levels have matched from day one. I knew she was the one when my extended family started asking for her around family events rather than me.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I saw some dramatic proposal pics on Pinterest and on Instagram. Paris is widely known to be the most romantic city in the world. So, I wanted to treat Amy right. She had never been. So it was a twofer trip ... get engaged and see Paris.

What is your proposal story?

We flew in to Paris mid-afternoon on a Saturday. We had an engagement photo shoot all lined up for Sunday morning. (There was no surprise. With all the logisitics, we had to discuss it beforehand.) But Saturday evening we were pulled as if magnetically to the Eiffel Tower and grounds. Everyone feels it, we know. So we strolled along the grounds in the cool, dusk evening when I dropped on a knee, pulled out a ring, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. She squeeled and jumped and kissed and ultimately said 'yes'. She was ecstatic and immediately photographed her pretty hands and gorgeous ring and handsome man.

Best tip for proposing in Paris

100% you need to book a photo shoot with Krystal at Flytographer above the Eiffel Tower at Trocadero. The views are amazing and your photos will be unforgettable. Just show up and be your pretty self and Flytographer will take care of everything else. Worth every penny. And way better scene at Trocadero than down on the grounds by the Tower.

Mark & Stephen's Proposal Story in Paris

How did you meet?

OKCupid

What is your love story?

I knew he was the one from the moment we met. It felt like time slowed down when he walked into my life. I think it's easy to enjoy the concept of a relationship when you're constantly doing things together, new experiences and the like. To be sure, those are great things, but they really only break the monotony, unless you're like really rich or an influencer who can travel constantly. For the rest of us peasants, and me in particular, I found the quiet, mundane day to day life just as fulfilling as the fun vacations, day trips, nights out, and all that jazz.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I have always wanted to go to Paris because of how magical a city it is. I wanted to go all out with this proposal, and where better to do that than in the most beautiful city in all the world.

What is your proposal story?

So, there were a bunch of thunderstorms that were supposed to blow in that day. It was the last full day we were going to be in Paris due to traveling to London and beyond for the trip so it was the only day that we could have shot the proposal. Fortunately the storms came in early enough that there was only some fog wreathing the tower which I think created a really lovely effect for the photos. So basically I told my partner that we were going to the museum at the Trocadero and that the museum had a dress code. There is a museum at the Trocadero, whether or not it has a dress code is in doubt. Suffice it to say, he knew something was up, but I managed to achieve an element of surprise since he isn't a morning person.

Best tip for proposing in Paris

The weather is kind of unpredictable at times, so be prepared for it to be too hot, too cold, make sure you are well hydrated. A lot of the more popular locations are usually in use because, well, they are popular locations. If you can, book a photographer, there's a pretty neat website that can help you with that.
