How did you meet?

Tinder

What is your love story?

I knew she was the one when I couldn't stop thinking about having fun with her. Early in our dating, we took a good number of trips skiing and exploring Ontario, Canada. We had so much fun together and at some point during these times, I fell hard for her beautiful eyes and angelic smile. I love the person I am when I am with her and she inspires me to grow and do better everyday. When I had to move to LA for work, I had to leave her behind and we continued our relationship long distance. This was the first time that I was away for her for an extended period of time since we first started dating. I knew already she was the one, and this work-life movement solidified that she is the only one I want to spend the rest of my life with

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We love scenic places and we love watching sunset together. Ever since I moved to LA, I would love to watch the sunset at Palisades Park near Ocean Ave. When she visits me in LA, we would always make sure to catch at least 1 or 2 sunsets here and that is why this stretch of the PCH is sentimental to me. The Palisades Bluffs Park was the perfect destination to do the proposal as it was close enough to where we usually watch the sunset but at the same time it was a brand new place that I brought her to and it has very scenic views. This was a surprise proposal so the destination had to make sense with the day. It was the perfect mix of beautiful, exciting and romantic.

What is your proposal story?

My now fiancee lives in Toronto, the city where I am from. She planned to visit me for 1 week as we grew tired of long-distance. I wanted this proposal to be a surprise. I think through my actions in our relationship it was pretty clear to us both that I always cherished her and made her my #1 priority. Even though she knew at the back of her mind that I would do this eventually, I wanted to keep it as big of a surprise as I could. The day of the proposal I sold it as a fun picnic that we should have. I told her in the morning that we don't have as many good photos together as I would like to have so we should take some photos today. Then as she was about to finish getting ready, I wanted to throw her off course so I suggested we catch a movie instead of having a picnic. Then I said we'll go with the flow of the day and maybe we'll catch a movie but maybe we'll do a picnic. We drove around the Santa Monica mountains and took in the beauty that LA nature has to offer, visited some cafe shops and then I told her okay lets do a picnic. At this point, we already were not far from the spot that I had in mind, everything was going according to plan. We arrived at the Palisades Bluffs Park and we grabbed our picnic blanket and snacks and picked a spot (the spot was already pre-determined by me but I acted as if we found it together haha). She was in awe of the views right away and I suggested we take some pictures together. As I was taking selfies with her, Allie our photographer walked by us as we were taking selfies (part of our plan), and I had asked Allie to take a picture of us on my phone. Allie then acted as a friendly tourist and took a couple photos on my phone before suggesting to take some pictures on her camera as her "client was running late". At this point she gave me the cue by saying "this is perfect!" and I dropped down on one knee and did the proposal I've been so excited to do. She said yes and we took pictures all the way into the sunset. It was magical

Best tip for proposing in Los Angeles

LA has a lot of beautiful spots. Depends on your style but I prefer places with a good mix of beautiful scenery and a low amount of foot traffic.

Ruben & Sabrina's Proposal Story in Los Angeles

How did you meet?

Friends/Family

What is your love story?

Sabrina and I met through mutual friends. We first met at a coffee spot in Toluca Lake with no expectations but had great conversation. I asked her out on a date at the end of our coffee time. Our first date was at République and we had an incredible night. Our love story started then and has been a dream come true since. I knew she’s the one within the first month of our relationship.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Sabrina and I went to El Matador beach after new year last year to take photos and had an amazing time. This year, Sabrina wanted to go back to El Matador beach after new year to take photos. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to surprise her at our favorite beach spot.

What is your proposal story?

We started the day with lunch at Elephanté as I needed Sabrina to be away from her place as her family wanted to prepare the engagement party. After lunch, we headed to El Matador beach for the proposal where we stayed for two hours and took photos with our amazing photographer. Afterward, we went to have a glass of champagne at Moonshadows in Malibu. Finally, I surprised Sabrina by having an engagement party at her place with her family and friends.

David's Proposal Story in Los Angeles

What is your love story?

We met through a friend & were good friends for awhile, as we were both dating other people. After a trip to Vegas, after both ending up single, with our mutual friend group, we instantly hit it off over pizza. Cue dancing that night & the rest is history!

What made you choose this proposal destination?

My initial choice was going to be somewhere in Italy during a big trip we had planned. That trip unfortunately couldn’t happen due to Covid-19, and after a little while I just couldn’t wait any longer to propose. I chose our local beach in Playa Del Rey for a few reasons: it’s beautiful, we have great memories there, and it was easy to plan a “random date night picnic” without causing suspicion! It ended up being even more perfect than I could’ve hoped for, and now the place we go to all the time has an even more special place in our hearts.

What is your proposal story?

It was amazing! I kept thinking something would go wrong, but nothing did. Our Flytographer Dipan arrived at the perfect moment and took incredible shots. The surprise pizza/champagne I asked Pizzana to bring was also perfectly on time and a huge surprise! Highly recommend Pizzana if you’ve never heard of them. In the moment of the proposal, the entire beach cheered, we couldn’t stop smiling, and after taking pictures, we spent the next couple of hours together on the beach, watching the sunset and laughing over champagne. It was the most beautiful moment of my life so far.

Joey's Proposal Story in Los Angeles

What is your love story?

We met in high school and started dating right towards the end of it. I pretty quickly knew I loved her and by the back end of College I knew she was the one. We made it through thick and thin and we always had fun and kept each other laughing.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

A friend mentioned it was a beautiful area to hike and it was on our way to Catalina island anyway! I did some googling to find a spot that i liked along one of the hiking trails.

What is your proposal story?

I proposed on a hiking trial in Palos Verdes looking out into the Pacific and towards Catalina Island which we were heading to later that day. I set up two "fake outs" for my fiance Alli because I thought she was suspicious. First I took her to one scenic view called Portugese point and gave her an anniversary gift. I thought the gift would make her think that the proposal wouldn't happen today. The second fake out was that we got to the end of the hike and I turned around to start walking back to the car. I thought that would make her think again it wasn't going to happen. Luckily for her our photographer was waiting just a bit further up the trail so I could get down on one knee and surprise her with the proposal.

Noah's Proposal Story in Los Angeles

What is your love story?

Nathali and I met when she first started at UCLA in 2014 and we got close on a service trip in Jamaica. We remained close for the next 4 years and it wasn't until we went to my company's holiday party "as friends" that we realized we wanted to be something more. Every day since then has been better than the last, and I can't wait to spend forever together.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

The Santa Monica pier was where we first started dating. The epic sunset views are a bonus, too :)

What is your proposal story?

The proposal really went better than I could have imagined! I had put together a memory chest of a bunch of nostalgic items from our relationship. Pamphlets from concerts and shows we've gone to, rocks from parks we've camped in, notes we've written to each other, and mementos from too many hilarious nights to count. She had thought that the chest was just a Valentine's Day gift, but when we got to the end, I pulled out the ring to represent all of the memories we still have to make. As if the sunset backdrop wasn't enough, there was hardly anyone on the pier and there was a ukulele player cycling through every classic love song in the book. Couldn't have imagined a better backdrop!

Nickolas's Proposal Story in Los Angeles

What is your love story?

Karly and I met during our senior year of college in New York where we both had a bunch of classes together in our final year. I was an aspiring physician at the time praying to get into medical school the following year, and she wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I can still remember the first time I saw her walk into the room in her cute green jacket and denim shorts. She lit up the room. She was so beautiful and had the cutest laugh I'd ever heard. We started as friends, but quickly grew into much more the more we got to know each other. Fast forward to now, she is a successful elementary school teacher and I'm in my final year of medical school in New York. She's always been so supportive of my crazy schedule and is always there to cheer me up when things get stressful, and that certainly helps me to know she's the perfect one for me. Her beauty and one of a kind personality don't hurt either!

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Something about the Santa Monica Pier has always been so beautiful to me. It's a perfect mixture of romance and fun, which I think matches our relationship perfectly, and I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for the proposal. When we planned a trip to LA a few months back, I just knew this had to be the spot!

What is your proposal story?

The proposal was everything I could have hoped for and more! I chose to wait until close to sunset to get the perfect feel that I wanted for the special moment. We arrived at Santa Monica Pier and walked around a bit soaking up the unique vibe of the area until we reached the spot near the pier that my photographer Dipan and I agreed would be a perfect spot. Then I gave my heartfelt speech to the woman of my dreams, dropped down to one knee, and popped the question! It melted my heart to see how excited she was, and I could not have been happier myself. I was so grateful Dipan was there to capture the moment, as I know we'll cherish these memories for the rest of our lives!

JUSTIN's Proposal Story in Los Angeles

What is your love story?

I use to work at a popular pizza shop in college. She would come in and order hot chocolate after her scuba diving class. Over a few weeks, we would chat while I was on a lunch break or when work was slow. She noticed me playing ping pong and asked if I could teach her. Side note, she knew how to play ping pong and only wanted to spend more time with me.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Manhattan Beach is so beautiful and has such fantastic sunsets. With her growing up in the South Bay in LA and myself growing up in Santa Barabra we are drawn to the beach.

What is your proposal story?

The proposal went perfectly! I was planning the day for about a month and was very happy with how it went. She has no idea I was going to propose and we ended the night going to my works kickball game!

Andrew's Proposal Story in Los Angeles

What is your love story?

Kennedy and I met in a college film course. Standing in the hall way on the first day of the class I saw her sitting in the hall way and I knew she was someone special. I decided to sit next to her in the theater, which was a quarter full if that. She was confused as to why this guy was sitting next to her but she didn’t move. We watched “Natural Born Killers” which is not the most romantic movie. It gave me a reason to talk to her after class. I was able to catch up with her after class and ask her what she thought. We shook hands and went our separate ways until the following week and the rest is history.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Zuma beach in Malibu is special to us. We have been to this exact location on the beach multiple times. We also both wanted to eat at the Sunset Resturuant.

What is your proposal story?

I had been planning the proposal for a month. I wanted to make sure I captured this moment for her and myself to have forever. We arrived at the restaurant and we were “early” for our reservation so I suggested we walk on the beach. Paige was standing on the beach taking photos of the surf. We put our stuff down to take a selfie and then I got down on one knee. She was shocked, she had no clue at all. Shocked, she said YES! Right after that whales appeared 20 feet from the shoreline. They swam up and showed their massive fins. It was incredible luck and she was convinced they were in on the whole thing as well. After we took photos with Paige we had brunch and headed off for more Easter activities. I could not have asked for a better day.
