What are the best places to eat and drink in Barcelona?

Fismuler restaurant is a must try! The ambiance, the food, everything was perfect. It feels more like a local place that happens to be upscale but never pretentious. They have live music and a wonderful environment. The food is also exquisite. Everything is coursed once you and each dish was rich in flavor without being too heavy. Loved it!

Get lost in El Born neighborhood (instead of the gothic quarter). it's so worth it!

Our favorite restaurant on this trip to Barcelona was Tuscania. We had sidewalk seating and a beautiful evening view of the Sagrada Familia. The owner and waitstaff were really nice. Favorite dish was the tortellini with sage.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

I'd have to say our visit to Sagrada Familia was our favorite activity. The construction workers have made a lot of progress since our last visit in 2016. The stain glass windows are magical.

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Barcelona?

Wine, lots of wine, lol. I would say if you're traveling with young children, a lightweight stroller is a must and download shows to your phone or an activity they love to keep them busy at meals.

Michelle's Travel Tips for Barcelona

What are the best places to eat and drink in Barcelona?

We were in a very charming part of Gràcia and loved all the cafes and restaurants we went to. I don’t think I could narrow it down to just one! On our last night we took our teens to Les Quinze Nits in the Gothic Quarter which has traditional Catalan food. We enjoyed the views from the second floor dining room and a lovely dinner. My daughter especially liked the churros she had for dessert.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

Casa Vicens in Gràcia is a gem! We had an excellent guided tour of this lesser known Gaudí attraction. It was also our meeting spot for our shoot and provided a beautiful backdrop for our first series of photos.

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Barcelona?

We traveled with teens ages 12 and 14 this time. My travel tip is to observe siesta from 2-4 pm so the kids can rest and recharge. The city can be busy so it’s important to schedule time for rest.

Jennifer's Travel Tips for Barcelona

What are the best places to eat and drink in Barcelona?

For the best meal in Barcelona you must book a table at Canete. While it's true you can get a good meal almost anywhere in Spain, the food here is extraordinary. Expect the highest quality and creativity from the kitchen here, set in an intimate space. It's the kind of restaurant that brings locals and visitors together with one goal, a great meal and a night to remember. I'm still dreaming of the croquettes and the tortitas de camaron! It'll be the first reservation I make when I head back to this incredible city - and it should be yours too.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

It had been 20 years since I lived in Barca so I spent a good deal of time just re-exploring the city with no agenda. That's how I found the antique and vintage stores of the Barrio Gothic. I spent hours browsing the shops, each of which felt like it's own mini-museum. From religious items to clothing, furniture and jewelry, there's so much to learn about a place by visiting it's local antique stores. It also gives you a chance to connect with the shopkeepers who are the experts of not only what they sell but their city too. If you look closely in my photos you'll see the long sterling silver necklace from the 70s I bought which is by a Catalonian brand called Puig Doria at my favorite of the shops called Heritage Barcelona.

What is the best tip for celebrating your birthday in Barcelona?

Every day of my trip was a celebration. Traveling solo is a special gift to give oneself. You can tune into your own rhythms and go where your hear takes you. Turning 50 is a milestone and I spent two days at Montserrat at the start of my trip to reflect in nature and gratitude. No trip to Barcelona is complete without a visit to this incredible spiritual site.

Jenni's Travel Tips for Barcelona

What are the best places to eat and drink in Barcelona?

Our favorite restaurant was Xavier Pellicer for fine dining. Our favorite bar was the rooftop bar at The Edition Hotel. Our favorite local hole-in-the-wall place was Espai Puntal and our favorite place for coffee and smoothies was Nudes (both located in the Born district).

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

La sagrada familia is a must see. It was worth it to book a tour for the church and one of the towers. We also loved the Born neighborhood full of trendy shops and art galleries. It felt like Etsy in real life. Loved seeing artisans working on their crafts in the stores!

What is the best tip for celebrating your anniversary in Barcelona?

The rooftop bar at The Edition hotel is a perfect spot for an anniversary cocktail with a view of the whole city. Xavier Pellicer is a romantic spot for an upscale fine dining experience in a beautiful setting.

Cara's Travel Tips for Barcelona

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

We took a Gothic Quarter free walking tour with Runner Bean Tours, a local company. It was a 2.5 hour tour filled with history and context and I would highly recommend it to have a best understanding of Barcelona’s development. If you can get Shira, be happy!

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Barcelona?

Traveling with young kids is nice, but it is a bit hard in Barcelona because of the timelines. There is very little to do with children between 3pm-8pm as there are limited restaurants, very young kids cannot tolerate lots of walking/exploring/shopping and then dinners are quite late. Also, playgrounds are typically sand. So, if you enjoy them, be prepared to have cause for showering shortly thereafter and maybe a change of shoes should sand bother your children.
