    1. Dunmore Town<\/b><\/h2>\n

    Dunmore Town is one of the oldest settlements in The Bahamas, dating back to the 18th century. It was once the capital and second only to Nassau in significance. <\/span><\/p>\n

    This quaint little village is full of hilly, narrow streets lined with pastel, New England-style houses available to rent or buy. This includes The Dunmore\u2014a stylish, 10-acre tropical refuge of oceanfront homes and guest cottages. Once an invitation-only beach club<\/span>, it\u2019s no wonder that it radiates 1960s-resort glitz and glam. Talk about a photo op! \u2728<\/span><\/p>\n

    2. Pink Sand Beach<\/b><\/h2>\n

    As opposed to the classic white sand beaches, this iconic beach has about 3 miles of picturesque, hard-packed pink sand that runs the entire length of the eastern side of the island. <\/span>The pink sand is composed of bits of minuscule rocks, broken shells, bits of coral, and calcium carbonate from teeny-tiny marine invertebrates\u2014microscopic, shelled, single-celled animals called Benthic Foraminifera, or protozoa, that get washed up on shore by the waves. \ud83c\udf0a <\/span>The sand feels silky smooth underfoot and is nicely packed, which makes it perfect for a walk along the beach you\u2019re not likely to forget. (And how could you after taking so many fabulous Instagrammable pics!) <\/span><\/p>\n

    But aside from the famous sand, the crystal-clear water is warm and gentle thanks to the outlying reefs, which makes swimming and snorkelling a dream. You\u2019ll find plenty of places to charter or rent boats, as well as diving and fishing gear rentals.     3. Lava Rock Point<\/b><\/h2>\n

    Lava Rock Point is a must-see spot on the northern tip of the island made up of unique black lava rock formations caused by ancient volcanic activity. The striking contrast of the dark rocks against the turquoise water makes this a fabulous spot for photos. <\/span>There\u2019s a lot of unique marine life around the rocks, but the area is known for strong currents, so use caution if swimming, snorkeling, or diving. Also, be sure to wear appropriate footwear (i.e., no flip-flops!) because the rocks may be sharp. <\/span><\/p>\n

    There aren\u2019t any facilities nearby, so you\u2019ll have to pack your own food and drinks.     Bay Street is the island\u2019s main street.
