We love this family\u2019s philosophy on travel: use any excuse to take a trip together. Read on for their story on celebrating Mom\u2019s 70th birthday in Playa del Carmen<\/a> and the perfect gift they surprised her with.<\/p>\n \u201cOur extended family have taken many trips together: Washington D.C.<\/a>, Colombia<\/a>, and several trips to Mexico<\/a>. The first trip was for my dad\u2019s 60th birthday, but during each trip we found something to celebrate: a new home, a new baby, a milestone birthday. We always made up some excuse! Every time, the cast changes a bit: new kids, broken legs, divorces, surgeries, but every trip is special.<\/p>\n \u201cThis recent trip was taken for my mom\u2019s 70th birthday and was the first trip we took together after my dad died. There were 11 of us in the tribe with four more extended family members who joined in for this trip: six kids under 10, many adults and two special grandparents. We had a great time.
