Our team of Flytographers recently convened for our second annual meetup in the beautiful city of Barcelona. We laughed, learned, enjoyed food and wine, and, of course, took photos everywhere we went. Here are our favourite places to take photos in Barcelona.
1. The Gothic Quarter
This is classic Barcelona, the old part of town rich with history, cobblestone streets and haunting architecture. Narrow streets are perfect for getting lost exploring each corner and crevice of this historical part of the city. If you want to explore with an experienced tour guide, check out Context’s small group tours. Be sure to see the gorgeous Cathedral of Barcelona.
2. Park Güell
Architect Antoni Gaudí must have designed Park Güell to be a photographers’ playground. His quirky style coupled with the massive size of this park make it the ideal spot to spend a fun day with camera in hand. Tip: Buy your ticket online in advance and choose a time slot with the best light. Golden hour is a great time to go!
3. El Raval neighbourhood
El Raval is known as the Gothic Quarter’s “cooler” cousin. It’s edgy and transforming into a creative hub for artists. Now home to the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, the old and new mesh in Raval. See another Gaudí masterpiece at Palau Güell before checking out the area’s famous nightlife.
4. El Born neighbourhood
The fashionable district of El Born is trendy, yet just a bit removed from the main attractions of Barcelona. Tons of little shops and boutiques are perfect for browsing, while open squares allow for pleasant views and people watching. Stroll down Passeig de Gràcia to see the best of Barcelona shopping, as well as cute cafés and interesting galleries.
5. Parc de la Ciutadella
Barcelona’s “green lung” is a veritable playground with the park’s gorgeous fountain at the heart of it all. Vibrant people and activities paired with the surrounding green space guarantee something new will happen with each passing minute. At the edge of the sprawling park space stands Barcelona’s Arc de Triomf.
And when it’s time to take a break and put the camera down, one of our amazing Barcelona Flytographers will be happy to take over!
