For their first wedding anniversary, Casey and Molly decided to put big plans into motion and spend their time away in Italy. They danced in the streets of Venice, took in the breathtaking scenery and, of course, took a romantic gondola ride. Keep reading for more on their time in Venice and the beautiful photos that capture it all.

“My husband and I wanted to do something special to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We don’t have kids yet (or even a dog!), so we decided to make our travel plans bigger than we originally intended. After lots of deliberation and voting, we decided Italy was the perfect place. We had talked about having photos taken for our anniversary and we decided there couldn’t be a better place to take them than in Venice!

“You will get lost in Venice. There is no way around it. I like to be very prepared, especially when travelling, so I had printed several maps and directions of the city, knowing that we would not always have data on our phone. But just after walking from the ferry stop to our hotel the first time, I learned maps and directions were zero help in this beautiful city!

“We stayed at Hotel Mercurio, which fully encompassed the feeling of Venice and was a great location. The included breakfast was delicious. Another memorable experience was grabbing drinks at Cantina Do Mori. This bar dates back to 1462 and had amazing (and inexpensive) wine. I would also suggest taking the water taxi instead of the ferry when you leave Venice. It’s more expensive, but completely worth it to soak in the last views of the city and say a proper goodbye to this amazing place!

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about our photographer, Marta. She was so kind and patient during the shoot, gave great direction when needed, and was even assertive enough to (very kindly) ask some people to move so we could get the perfect shots! She was open to all of our ideas (no matter how random they may have been) and made them all come to life. She has an incredible eye for detail and lighting, and she perfectly captured our emotions and love for one another.

“We truly love every single photo she shared with us and have already looked through our album many, many times. Now we just have to find spots in our home to put all of our photos; I want every one to be framed!” – Molly
